Cancel one passenger on award ticket?
A couple of related questions...
Can you cancel one person on an AP award ticket and get a miles refund leaving all other pax on the PNR?
Here is a more tricky question - assuming you can, what if the passenger you are cancelling is an SE and is the reason all the other pax are in preferred seats for free?

Yes, you can split anyone off the PNR, and then cancel that separately.
As for the SE preferred seat question... just don't bring it up.

As a Diamond AP member, can you call and split the PNR for free and then use the AP web based tool to cancel the 'split off' PNR for $30?
Or is the action of splitting the PNR a 'change' and therefore incurs a fee?

I was also told that I did not need to call to split the PNR since after clicking the "cancel" button online, I would have the option to select which pax to cancel. Never tried it yet.
