Gender of the seat assignment icons

I've always thought that the gender icons for widebody J seats were indicative of the passenger's actual gender. It appears that they are not - I am currently showing up as female, which my buddy found hilarious when booking his tix until he too showed up as a female.

Does anyone know if I've always been wrong to assume that the icons reflect actual gender.

They've never reflected gender. Just random.

I thought the little icons might refer to the sex of the person. I recently looked into one of my bookings and I showed up as a female. I thought I might be looking at the wrong seat. hehehehe. When I signed in a few days later I noticed I was now male. I assumed it might be picking up the 'MR' in my title.

Every other time I have looked at my booking I have remained male.

Now to get them to get my hair colour correct! LOL

Even if a gender had at one time had been intended, a prudent person would never, ever admit to it now. There would always be someone demanding additional options such as dual gender or no gender, or someone would claim discrimination and hurt feelings.

and how about Transgender?

just booked DEL-ICN on Air India on-line, and this option during booking process is available.
