Earlier this week when I flew J on the 787 I was able to F/F the commercial and the next day on the A319 I could not! As a rule as soon as I sit down I start my show, during this time I am simply getting settled so I do not pay attention to what is being shown!

Once the crap is out of the way the show starts and then we get the safety video and then I can get back in and hit resume and rewind what I need too and I am good. I save a lot of time and can squeeze most movies on a YEG-YVR trip. The crew though should have the system running when we board for this to work right!

Played around with the entertainment on the 787 again today... and it appears for movies, there's commercial at the start.. but can be fast forward...

For the tv shows, not commercials.

Pi...ing off your most valuable customers, what a great strategy. How much will be needed in AC ads, onboard service improvement, etc. to offset the negative impact of those forced ads.. Not sure it's even wise business...

AC 149 last night. Sitting in Y on a 321. No skipping allowed but a "Your movie will follow in 90 seconds after these messages" message before the ads.

90 seconds of ads was for AC vacations (not going to buy one) and Audi (not going to buy one).

Sigh.

Cracked open the tablet and watched Deadwood for the whole flight. Al Swerengen is the appropriate character to watch on an AC flight.

I flew on the 787 as a PAX the other day in Y, and although I watched only TV episodes, in light of this thread, I noted that there were not ANY commercials

On AC B763 Aircraft at the moment in J. The entertainment unit allows skipping of commercials.

What is interesting on this flight is that the movies are still last months selection, which I preferred since I missed a few good one last month.

August selections on the 787 has been disappointing!

A320 YVR YYZ - no skipping allowed.
77W YYZ FRA - skipping allowed.

I don't mind this in Y, but in J they should either remove commercials or allow you to skip.

What comes around goes around.

It was only four years ago when Andrew announced with some fanfare that from then on we would be able to FF through the BS.

Now we have be reenhanced.... Surprise surprise. BTW he seems to have disappeared too.

Probably because the latter has not been enhanced yet?

My last two flights no FF was allowed. I just removed the earphones and closed the monitor.

Yes. I think the enhancement has been irregular.

My favourite ad I've seen on Air Canada is this ad: (couldn't find the 30 second version, but here is the 60 second version)

My most hated ads are the Som Seif ones.
