Why does AC rip-off Canadians on change fees?

Checking P fares: change fees if ex:

Canada $450
Europe $317 (250 euro)
UK $220 (120 GBP)

How come, as usual, Canadians get ripped-off by it's national airline?

Make a booking from say, LHR, CPH or YYZ in P.

On the last page ("review flight details") the change fees are noted, you'll see that AC likes to particularly gouge Canadians.

All airlines get as much as they can. That's the way when they can do it and you have little option (or none).

Plus AC has to hurry as those loonies are not worth as much as they used to be!

Had a friend who changed his return flight on emirates on a low economy fare. Changed departure airport from JFK to YYZ for return trip to JNB. He did it 3-4 weeks before the return flight. Only paid $150.

Every route / fare / airline have different change fees. Very difficult to conclude that AC is always higher from Canada.

There are even some Tango AC fares coming to Canada where the first change is free. Does this mean that all fares should be free for changes?

I'm sure the change fees are competitive to other airlines on the same routes/ fare basis.
