Smile STAR ALLIANCE UPGRADE AWARDS - Market Fare
Hi FT folks

I booked on aeroplan a trip to calgary while the only economy class available was Latitude, Y. it costed a premium... 40k points+ due to high season (there might be an event going on)

since the cabin is Y and marketfare is essentially aeroplan paying AC on cash, is that possible to use Aeroplan SA upgrade of 7500 points to bump me to J? I've tried couple times via online tool but all showing up as technical difficulties.

any thoughts?

Does the ticket show booking code Y, really?

Why don't you try if it indeed showsY/B?

Also, is there upgrade availability on the flight in question?

If I was available from the get go, wouldn't it have been cheaper to redeem that than a market Y award?
