Go to Perth from YVR-EUROPE-PERTH

From North America West/east/ coast go to Deep Africa Windhoek/JNB/CPT/Victoria falls, and others then go pretty much where you want to go for another stop plus some under 24 hr connections. HKG/SUB-CONT/SIN/DXB/EUROPE/ASIA/S.AMERICA/AUSTRALIA then back to North America.
Lots of different combos work and some tricks too

Incorrect Mileage Quoted

I tried the following itinerary:

ORD X/IAD FRA (UA C / LH F)
FRA X/BKK HKG (TG F)
HKG X/NRT ORD (NH C / NH F)

Initially when I was selecting my flights, I was quoted 210,000 miles.

However, when I click on the purchase button and got to the next screen, the itinerary priced out at only 125,000 miles! (That's the mileage for a ORD-FRA RT award as opposed to a ORD-HKG award which is 210,000).

It looks like AP needs to work on their online booking system.

Under the old system western Canada to Sydney would not work IIRC. Adelaide was an option then so it may still be now.

From YVR, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and other cities in that area should be good POTs for MiniRTWs since the distance from YVR to them over the Pacific and Atlantic is about the same.

I think the mileage is higher if your POT is Middle East, no?

Yes, 165K for business. Addis Ababa, a *A hub might also work, and there it's 150K. But then again, 15K extra is not much if it actually allows you to do a MiniRTW where you wouldn't be able to otherwise.

Any ideas for mini-RTWs originating from Europe 1? Are Australia/NZ the only POTs that come into question or are there other "cheaper" regions that give enough mileage?

Your crystal ball is working finely today. Any outlook for some LH 1$ F fares?

Thumbs down Tokyo MPM not a great number.

Tonight the call centre told me the MPM for YYZ-NRT was 9,049 miles. That's insanely high if they're trying to force direct routes, but it does conveniently block out (most of?) Europe - my NRT-CPH-EWR return was rejected.

It depends on your routing you choose though. The Maximum mileage is a moving goal post, but IME does not move much if you a antipodal POT.

But if I'm trying to go to Tokyo, and I can't find availability through BKK, I'm pretty SOL. Unfortunate.

Have you tried adding a 24 hour stop in Europe? I'd like to know if that works. It seems like it should. It's nonsensical they'd disallow YYZ-FRA-NRT as the amount of fuel surcharges they'd make would be astronomical.
