Doesn't look like it's completely abolished. Just did a search for YYZ-BKK, and options presented in the search engine include both YYZ-HKG/PEK-BKK and YYZ-LHR/MUC/FRA/etc.-BKK.

I'm sure, as usual, if you want specific flights that require long (but still less than 24 hours) layovers, you'll have to call it in.

This seems like another 'enhancement' that isn't.

See the problem with these is that it attracts hundreds in scamcharge.

I wonder if stuff like YYZ-IAD-DXB-SIN will be allowed.

This is definitely not good news. But all I really ask for is the rules in print.

I've seen YYZ/YOW/YUL-IAD/EWR-European Hub-SIN on UA/SQ, avoiding scamcharges.

I don't get the feeling anyone can.

I started a v2.0 of the "booked routings" thread. I think we need even more data now to be able to figure out legitimate routings. I almost have a feeling this change was done to "encourage" more direct and less RTW bookings. If we don't know what's permitted, we will just book the simplest, right? WRONG. We are many. We will prevail :P

For once, looks like my dDiamond status and the priority call centre queuing will be of value.

Good grief this outfit is now even worse than DL!

Can we start a list - under a not so obvious title - in which people post only confirmed and bookable "ersatz" miniRTW type itineraries after Oct 29th?

PVG is further from YYZ as a pure distance than PEK. That means the allowable mileage is higher, and the difference is more than the distance of a PVG-PEK flight.

There were examples of similar situations under the old MPM system, so it's not an entirely new concept.

Published routings are gone too, it's permitted because it falls under the "new" centralized MPM.

There's a post on it here.

I think I'm going to develop a quick and dirty crowdsourcing site for people to input booked routings so we can quickly cross-reference stuff. At least until we figure out if there truly are rules or not.

TATL and TPAC MPM's are no longer

The new formula appears to allow just one MPM betwen any two city pairs. This number may be greater than the lesser of the old TPAC MPM+5 and TATL MPM+5.

If this is correct then the way to book a true mini RTW is to pick a POT as far from the point of origin as possible. Otherwise it's back the way you came.

From YYZ true mini-RTW's appear to be possible with the following POT's:

SIN
PER
DPS
HKT
BKK
and others

POT's that dont work include
HKG
TPE

Since I m not going to be clicking on the blog post referenced above out of principle, where do we find this new "centralized" MPM

Is it going to be more secret than an AC upgrade waiting list?

I'm not sure it's anywhere (not in that blog, anyway).

Hence hopefully the app I'll write, and the contributions made to it, will make us feel it out in the dark.
