Premium Economy fare increase
Looking to purchase PE seat (O class) YVR/LHR for January and find the price has increased by approx $1,000 each way since July 2914. Anyone else notice fare increase of this magnitude ?

PE N (lowest) $1754
PE O (flexible) $4854
gabdusch is right, look closely at the fare you clicked on as PE lowest may be sold out for your dates

I just checked Jan 20 / Jan 23 for O (flexible) class and find $2,680 to LHR and $2,972 for the return to YVR. That is total $$5,652. Fare paid for 30 May / 2 June 2014 was $3,829 (also for 0 class).

Astonishing pricing. BA has non stop fares in First (A - lots of seats) YYZ LHR for $5498 before taxes thus for $600 more plus what tend to be higher fuel surcharges it is hard to imagine paying AC $4,854 for glorified coach for the same route. BA Business in I is $1000 less than that AC price.

Looks true - - Fare "OFFE" has just gone up about 1000. Looks like my travels will have to change as this was my go-to fare. Now with O-Class too expensive, E-Up surcharge on the other fares etc . . I'm done. This is crazy. Best to hope for now is just a P-Class discount if lucky.

You can fly Delta J for less than AC glorified Y though if it indeed is $4854

Don't think you're comparing apples to apples here. If you're buying an O fare, you are paying business class lowest prices, and getting total flexibility combined with an immediate upgrade to business. Pricing Y,B and O much lower than P devalues business fares entirely and more importantly loses AC revenue. What are they supposed to do, sell you business class for $2000 less because you are elite?
Comparing it to BA is odd, because dummy booking suggests you still need to pay £200 change fees and £200 cancellation on those 1st class fares. Buying O suggests you need flexibility, otherwise why not just buy E/N fares in the first place and save yourself a 2/3 of the ticket price.
As for glorified Y, well having travelled on HD plane it is more than that. The service is hit and miss. But it's probably worth $100-200 per way. Glorified Y would be Y with an exit row. Which in tango can be had for $850 return plus whatever your status costs for preferred seats are.
