Onboard Compensation

Hello,

I just saw this on my aeroplan account:

Oct 13, 2014 ON BOARD COMPENSATION 5,000

Not sure what this is for. Weeks ago I was in J and the IFE didn't work. She said that she would give me a voucher or something, and never did. I didn't pester the SD, so I dropped it. Could this have been from that? Even if so, the dates didn't match as I did not fly on the 13th.

Thoughts?

Tx!

The IFE compensation doesn't come in the form of points, generally it comes with the little blue card with the discount. 5k Aeroplan points is more in line with something wrong with your seat, no meal, inseat power misbehaving.

From what I hear it takes a while to post, did you fill out a green form online in say oh, the last 90 or so days?

Thank you for your reply. Hmm, I recall two or three flights this year that didn't have my meal and 2-3 flights this year that had an issue with the seat. However, no, I have not filled out any green form, either online or in flight. Weird, but i'll gladly take them

I have no idea why I typed online, it would have been on the plane, blame it on lack of coffee?

Haha, no worries. Maybe recovering from a headache?

Agree with AC681 on the compensation being usually in the form of 5% off next flight booking and you would have received a blue card typically for this. I just got one of these the other day for a malfunctioning IFE in J. I suspect the miles are for something else.

Recovering from 8 days on the road and around 38 flights or so.

What is the usual compensation for a broken J seat on international flight AC7 in paid business? I requested an MCO on the form provided.

+1 in my experience - 5% for IFE, or 5K miles / $150 credit for a broken power outlet on YYZ-IST, with no spare J seats to transfer into.

My experience with compensation:

Broken tray table, IFE, lights flashing = $0/0% on 4h30 flight in J.

The AE points are probably for the broken IFE. I had a problem with my IFE in Y on Oct. 2nd - completely full flight on a CRA YYC-YWG so didn't bother the FAs for a blue form. But it was seat 12A and I love that seat so I sent a message to AC indicating the fin # of the plane so that the IFE could get fixed (so I wouldn't get screwed again!).

I didn't expect ask for any compensation but someone at AC emailed back that they would deposit 2500 non status AE miles into my account. Saw the deposit occur on Oct. 15, 2014. So I'm guessing the SD made a note of it for your flight and that you got 5000 AE points for a broken IFE in J.

For what it's worth...

I recently flew SEA-HKG on DL on a ridiculously cheap Y fare (albeit I upgraded to EC seats). I have no status with DL (first time flyer in fact).

Entire IFE system was down for the whole 13.5 hr flight. One email later and they credited 7500 points.
