Hm. I seriously wonder how price competitive this could be. No one else flies directly to Osaka, but its easy enough to hop on a plane/train/bus from Tokyo over. JAL is actually heading in the opposite direction with their 787's. Adding seat pitch and wider seats to all their economy and premium econ seats and lie-flats in business. If there was just a minor price disparity, who in their right mind would ever choose AC rouge?

Unless they will have a special rouge configuration for this flight, it should have the BYO option shouldn't it?

The one thing I don't get is when a route comes back (even if via AC Rouge) why do the PRs refer to it as an "Introduction"? Why don't they call it "re-" ?

Hoping that the public has a short memory, that AC/CP used to fly from NRT/KIX/NGO with multiple flights , actually it is an introduction by ACr who has never flown the route before.

Perhaps if you're held captive in Toronto, afflicted with Stockholm Syndrome and resigned to paying more and more for less and less.

But those in the civilized world have convenient, comfortable and competitively priced alternatives.

Then what's your issue exactly? Assume you're here to save the masses from themselves?

Ohhh, right. Another member of the arbiter of value team. Forgot that. Here to remind Canadians who put a high value on a domestic 1-stop access to Osaka/Kyoto Rouge will soon provide they just don't get "it". They're not as sharp as you and your brand and marketing specialists.
Sure, domestic connection and Same-airline service might be highly appreciated by some travellers, but they're not sharp enough to know a double-connection via USA + a couple extra hours travel time might get them an extra inch of legroom and newer movie options inflight.

Please keep doing anything you can to save them ... Before it's too late, and they go off and book Rouge because it best meets their overall needs/wants.

But not from North America. Guessing Hawaiian Airlines 767's unless retrofitted are equipped with overhead video systems and iPads for rental.

AC had to find something for the YVR based rouge 763s to do in between Hawaii flights.

This is why we're flying YVR-LAX and YVR-LAS some days with the rouge 763, and YVR-HNL and YVR-OGG daily.

In the summer, when demand decreases to Hawaii, we're operating the OGG and HNL flights on one plane, and KIX on the other.

Too bad. I used to fly AC 35/36 once or twice a year (~$1,500 for an upgradeable fare).
I don't think I will even try it now.
ITM - NRT - YVR sounds better than Rouge.

Being non-YVR based and forced to do at least one connection/stopover gives you plenty of options.. USA/SFO, NRT, PVG, EU/AMS&CDG, TPE, etc. all within the same time-range as connecting in YVR.

This flight is perfect for those willing to sacrifice their in-flight comfort out of a stubborn refusal to connect outside Canada, which is a lot of the flying public.

In addition, the train is a great option for Osaka. I've done KIX three times, of which my next one next year will instead be done by the train from Tokyo, which I would still eminently prefer over a rouge YVR-KIX. (Though understandably this is too much for non-frequent travellers)

The market can support something like this and we've already seen how successful this race to the bottom is but there is no reason for you to whine at those who despair at this ever-accelerating race to the bottom.

Come to think of it, have you ever even flown rouge >8 hours?

Ain`t that the truth, I am constantly amazed by some of my friends paying hundreds of dollars more for less quality instead of having the dreadful connection. Can things go wrong? Sure! That is what credit card insurance is for.

But AC sure has a captive 'non-stop at any price in any comfort' crowd in this country, can`t blame them for exploiting that.
