"Air Canada's amenity kit rated worst"

Since it's from the Daily Mail take this with a huge grain of salt, but it was interesting: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/tr...-half-fly.html

I have no idea by who or how these kits were ranked.

As a side note, the BA kits are jumbled and items missing from the photo. There are 4 possibilities: In each of First and business there are male and female kits. The photo shows 3 things, a male J kit ( top right) male F kit ( black bag, lower) and female F bag (brown, left)
The items below the brown zipped bag belong to the female F kit.

The non-Elemis items below the male J kit belong to the male F kit. The pen, toothbrush and toothpaste that are in the female F kit are also in the male F kit. The Elemis items belong to the male J kit.

Missing: socks, ear plugs and eyemask which are different between F and J.

Interesting stuff. This comment by MsMontreal, Somewhere, Canada, takes the price:

"And those Air Canada socks have elastic that is thinner than a human hair, so the heels slide down instantly, bunching up underfoot. Worst airline on earth. Probably worse than Air Malaysia!"

The kit in the review was AC's old style kit, not their new product. Not sure if any of the products have changed outside of the external packaging with the new amenity kits.

The AC bag shown is the older version. The one I recently got earlier this month is different, but contained the same items.

I have always said AC could do a better job in putting together a quality kit. The items included are cheap nothing premium.

If the dollar store sold an amenity kit this would be it.

This is so bogus and filled with incorrect information. As noted AC kit is the old one and the BA J kit has nowhere near that much in a flimsy shoe bag. AA does not give the same kit to F and J customers, the one displayed is just the F version. The J ones don't take iPads. Hardly fair tomix F and J.

Is it fair to compare amenity kits from F on some airlines with J on others?

For the most part, I'm less interested in what's in the kits as I am in how easily they fit into my carryon and how they can be used afterwards. The EK J and F kits are very nice, but after one segment there's no room to pack them. I never use the AC contents, but the the bags themselves are very handy. I have one for all of my connectors and another for my earphones/iPod stuff. They're ideal for that.

Agreed. OTOH, the LX F one has become my travel kit of choice; it's the perfect size for everything I need.

Actually, you could find better quality brand-named products sold at Dollarama.

Here are some tips AC:

1) Get Canadian designer's Dean & Dan from Dsquared to design a bag
2) They also have his and hers fragrance so include that in the bag
3) Get some quality socks from Canadian company McGregor
4) Include B. Kamins Canadian luxe skincare products

Delta is using Tumi, and tell the customers its an USA company. Lets hope one day Air Canada can do the same. Some great tips you should work for AC

Agree as my CW jaunt to BCN & back in June had nowhere near the same number of goodies as shown.

I don't know what the current AC kits are, but I find the old ones I've received in the past to be on par with what I recently received in LH, TG and CX F and CA J. At a minimum certainly better than LH F.
