That is good...thanks for sharing.

Last year I think it was $2500-$2700.

YYZ-CPT via LHR

I booked YYZ-CPT yesterday with the LHR-CPT leg on BA. Total cost per tix was $3300.

I see the fares from YOW to JNB, but I cannot find any of these fares in the fall timeframe to CPT (neither from YOW nor YYZ).

Can you please post the rules from your ticket as the OP did? Maybe travel dates to CPT are different.

Also... to JNB many of the connecting flights are on South African.

Thanks

I'm noticing a lot of long layovers (14-15 hrs) in FRA on outbound flights from YOW, connecting either to JNB flights on an SA 340 or an LH 380. Both flights are within a few hours. I would think the LH 380 option would be far superior.

I've never been on an SA 340, but I'd have to say the SA 330 is much better than the LH 380 in J. Nice flat seat that's a vast improvement over the LH slider, food and service at least on the same level as LH J. Assuming it's same/similar seat between the 330 and 340, I'd pick SA over LH, all other things being equal.

Only 2/11 LH380's currently have the new business class seats... SA340 has fully flat seats and the catering is better than LH.

So unless you want to fly A380 that would be the only reason to fly LH over SA.

SA260/61 to FRA is usually an A346
Only two of LH388s have been converted to the new J (C) at this time (and one currently being retrofitted).

Having flown SA and LH quite a few times in J, I would strongly disagree.

The angled lie-flat seat you´ll find on most LH 380 aircrafts is crap. The SA J seat is fully flat, and while I haven´t personally experienced the "new" LH J seat, it still looks inferior compared to the SA J seat (e.g. many pax have reported issues with the foot cubicle of the new fully-flat LH seat while the SA J seat has a very generous seat pitch eliminating the cubicle all-together).

Service is somewhat inconsistent on both carriers in J, though I find the catering on SA to be superior.

$3700 return for YYC-CPT. I was able to find dates through the Christmas holidays, up to at least January 10.

The SAA business class is top notch.
I find it better than Air Canada's. They even offer soup.
Unfortunately the SAA flights were not available on one of my legs... so I'm flying the A380.

Note that the A380s continue to be retrofitted in the summer. You can look up on LH website and do a dummy booking to show the seating layout.

The new retrofitted seats have 1 less row (more space); and row 21 is behind the washroom, not in front.

Search for the business class fare on Google Flights (http://flights.google.com) or ITA Flight Matrix

Call Air Canada with the fare class to make the booking!
