Aeroplan still exists though, and it's still where you earn your miles.
If the forum was named Air Canada Top Tier, then I'd agree with you.

Right, this forum is named Air Canada Aeroplan, not Air Canada Top Tier. So, in this case, there is no true reason to change the name of the forum.

A rename may be necessary, but I don't think we're at that point yet.
Altitude may be the name of the FF program, but we will continue to earn Aeroplan points by buying magazines, ice cream, light bulbs etc. These points will be redeemable for flights and other travel rewards as well as toasters. The only thing that's really changing right now is that status miles will be "Altitude" miles. But even there, Altitude miles are just a special form of Aeroplan miles.
When Altitude miles are completely separated from Aeroplan miles, then we should rename the forum.

We will have to wait and see what the new cards look like. The current one says that you are a member of AC TT and Aeroplan. I would guess that the Attitude cards will be similar (with the replacement of AC TT) since we are still accumulating Aeroplan points.

Should this forum be renamed to Air Canada Altitude?
Or even split, with one forum for Aeroplan and one for Altitude?
It looks like the two programs are going their separate ways - Distinction: the new program for aeroplan collectors.
The two sites (Altitude and Aeroplan) now carry distinct information, with Altitude focusing on flights, Million Mile status, etc. and Aeroplan documenting all the additional Aeroplan miles earned through credit cards, Esso, bonus miles, etc.
I'm not even sure that there is anyone at AC/AP/Altitude who knows where this is all going.
BTW - we need an acronym for Altitude - how about something that reflects what we are all experiencing, enhancements? the acronym could then be 'EH'.

But Aeroplan is not a FF program any more than Air Miles is. This BB is all about providing information for FFers who are more interested in how to benefit from elite status and flying deals and not double AE miles for buying stuff at Costco. So I concur with the OP, the forum should be renamed to better reflect the new reality. (Or else, we should have an AIR MILES forum to have discussions about maximizing earnings in Canada's largest loyalty program.

Just because we are required to access 4 separate websites to manage our frequent flyer portfolios, surely more than any other airline requires of their frequent flyers anywhere else in the world, I still think we can leave it as is or simply edit it to Air Canada Attitude/Aeroplan.
As we all know, AC IT sucks and currently we must access:
aircanada.ca/aircanada.com
aircanada.com/eupgrades
altitude.aircanada.com
aeroplan.com
Awesome IT integration to make everything end user friendly.
