So I thought that AE had announced domestic one-ways would be reduced to 50% return mileage instead of the usurious 66%. However, doing a search for a one-way YVR-YYZ flight I am still getting 17K+$77.41 for an economy ticket. However, checking out my MileagePlus account I can get the same flight for 12.5K+$22.70. Or I can route YVR-YYJ-YYZ for 12.5K+$5.70!
Is this highway robbery or what? How can AE justify such rip-offs? How much longer can AE members stand being taken for fools?
I'm happy to say I'm far more than halfway to my goal of clearing out my Aeropeso account and cutting up my card. It's now probably down to a YYZ-(somewhere in Europe)-(somewhere in Asia)-YYZ with my wife, and maybe an Esso gift card or two, and I'll have achieved my goal. The feeling is liberating.

Given the lack of competition, how/why would they not do this? They're a public company and maximizing profit is the name of the game. AC is the only domestic program and they know it.
I dislike it too. But hired as AC or AP's CFO, I wouldn't change a thing unless someone decided to compete with me.

People could always collect air miles, after all it's not AC it's Aeroplan program, AC just gives you Aeroplan miles if you fly on them. You can get more miles with credit card, hotel and promotions instead of AC earned miles
I could almost care less about trying to use AE miles on flights, useful for toasters and short haul flights for the wife.
Still think there should be a separate Aeroplan forum, all this whining about reward flights should be there as it has nothing to do with AC anymore, they just sell seats to AE.

yes, the point is you cant disassociate AC from AE. AC collects the money, and keeps it.
This is the Aeroplan forum (and has been for the last 11+ years I ve read it) - which has seen nothing but devaluations in the last 2 years or so, I am sure there are AC fanboy forums out there where people can post how great AC is without regard for Aeroplan.

Oh give it rest already, AC and AE are separate companies, have been for years
It says Air Canada Aeroplan the Aeroplan part should be dropped
