TCON = transcon, you are looking for TATL - transatlantic.
Since this is a points redemption - this is a no brainer - go with LX - you will not only save $600+ per ticket in fees over LH/AC, but also will have true flat seats and service far superior to what you are used to on AC
Within Europe, there is no business class, just coach seating in front of a curtain with the middle seat blocked off.
If you are going to Italy - use US/UA instead - both have flat beds, will have no fees on the aeroplan ticket, and will get you straight to Italy.
The US/UA flights do not show up on the AP site. I guess I need to call in...
Thanks!
check United.com - and if blue (saver) awards are available - thats what you want, call in to book. Aeroplan.com has a tendency to favour flights which will attract hundreds in Air Canada scamcharges (flights on LH, AC, OS)

Concur with above, LX is my preferred european choice .. I think you will love them compared to AC especially travelling with your spouse as the pods suck for a couple...flying them in J ORD-DAR next month. You wont regret the choice I am sure...
The charges make LX an obvious choice but even with that removed LX J is much better than the angle seat that is still predominate on LH aside from the 748, until it is replaced fleet wide they aren't a great choice ...LH F of course is another story.

I may be in the minority as I actually really like UA J despite the high density configuration, that seat itself is super comfortable , I did IAD-PEK and was a breeze for 15 hrs... Seat far superior to the ironing board that is the AC pod. As well it's ideal for a couple in window seats...travelling solo I would likely not enjoy.
I would however always take a good LX Route in J over UA...especially in row 5 in the mini cabin if flying with spouse.far superior soft product and more private hard.

shhh... stating facts is not allowed in the AC forum.
Here everyone is required to sing praises of how AC is superior in every way.
OP, you can find availability on united.com - its the same inventory - look for blue (saver) awards - thats what the AE agent will see as well.
Stay clear off AC/LH/OS longhaul.
All my TCON J flights have been on AC so far. Would like to try something else.
Planning a wedding anniversary trip to Europe with Mrs R&F next summer (including Rome, Firenza and Venice).
I have some nice AP options with LX (via MUC) or LH (via Geneva) in J. No experience on J with either one...
Opinons on which one is best for a TCON with Mrs? She does not get to travel in J all that often. Would like a nice experience...
Thanks,
R&F
Given you're based in YQB, would recommend YUL-ZRH on LX J, then ZRH-FCO or VCE or whichever stop you want to make it next, then back via ZRH-YUL on LX J before heading home.
If you're really adventurous, go for a mini-RTW and try TG or OZ. Not sure how available LX J is across from EU to Asia.
If you want to try LX F, do LX F ZRH-MIA or ZRH-ORD or some other non-popular US destinations, then fly back to YQB via YYZ or YUL.
PM me if you like to chat more about your options. I'm doing YUL-ZRH on J in April, and have quite a bit of mini-RTW experience (booking award and flying revenue).
