No tier bonus

Had some flights to LAS this past week and no tier bonuses posted today. Just realized that there will be none until we select our benefits. Oh well, hopefully that will give them time to make sure they post as 2013 bonuses instead of 2012 bonuses.

I thought the 2012 benefits were in effect until March 1. Guess that's why mine haven't posted yet either...

Is there any difference between 2012 and 2013 tier bonuses?

(Except if you made a different choice of benefits, of course.)

E35 = 35%
E75 = 75%

The rest remain the same.

Just a little dig at the fact that it took most of January for the 2012 tier bonus to say 2012 instead of 2011.

I'm happier. 75% Bonus will be much better this year. Another 15-20k over my 2012...

No tier bonus

So does this mean as a 2013 E75, I will get a 75% bonus for this week's flights instead of 50%?

Yes. Bonuses have always been calendar year. This is the first year with the two month status block out though.

Are you sure about that? Flight pass privileges have already been calendar year but given they haven't announced them yet for 2013 apparently this year 2012 selections will continue until February 28, 2013.

Not sure about flight pass bonuses, but would think it would be the same. I was referring to the option of extra miles for flights. Like status miles, they run from January to December. For example, when you qualify part way through the year they also go back to January.

I also flew from LAS a few weeks ago (was there for NYE), my tier bonus has not shown up either. Guess we'll have to wait!

I think I read on a previous post they stopped doing the retroactive miles bonuses last year. So if you hit early recognition, you would only get miles from that date and going forward.

Flight pass bonuses are supposed to be handled differently per actoptier : Flight Pass select privileges for 2013

You may well be right, but it may just be a start of year thing. I do seem to recall from years past that it can take 2-3 weeks for them to start posting these after the start of the year (even if you picked your benefits as early as possible). If nothing posts by end of January, you are no doubt correct.

There is a big difference between not giving retroactive credit for someone who qualified early, and someone who actually qualified by flying the miles in the previous year.

For the past few years AC would not provide retroactive credit for those who qualified after March of the year, but would always provide retoractive credit for people who flew in January/February but did not have their new status at the time of their flights.

I've always been very skeptical of the information in the post you've quoted. It wouldn't be the first time an AC employee (at an airport or otherwise) provided incorrect information. If it were correct, I'm sure that it would be shown on the 2012 Top Tier page or the 2013 Altitude page; it is not. Information still shows tier and flight pass bonuses based on calendar year.

http://www4.aeroplan.com/your_aeropl...s_2012/home.do

Plus, this page has been updated throughout the year. For example, the page was updated to reflect bmi's withdrawl from *A.

Under "Select Priviliges" on then link above (underlining mine):

Quote:
When you choose this Select Privilege, you'll earn Bonus Aeroplan Miles every time you fly with an eligible airline partner.

When traveling on eligible flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express, Continental Airlines or United, enjoy:

25% bonus as a Prestige member
50% bonus as an Elite member
100% bonus as a Super Elite member

When traveling on eligible flights operated by Austrian Airlines, bmi (until May 31, 2012), Lufthansa, SWISS and TAM enjoy a 25% bonus.

The Top Tier Bonus:

Applies to Aeroplan Miles earned for distance flown between January 1 and December 31, 2012 and does not apply to any other mileage accumulation, including class of service bonuses and other promotions.
Applies as of the date your Top Tier status is confirmed by e-mail. Flights taken prior to that date are not eligible.
Does not qualify for Air Canada Top Tier status.
Does not apply to flights taken in conjunction with an Unlimited Flight Pass.
Does not apply when the option not to earn Aeroplan Miles had been selected at time of booking.
Quote:
When you choose this Select Privilege, you'll earn eUpgrade Credits which will automatically be deposited into your aircanada.com eUpgrade account for each of the following Flight Pass activities made between January 1 and December 31, 2012:

With the purchase of an eligible Flight Pass of 6, 8, 10, 16 or 20 flight credits in your name (excludes Unlimited Flight Passes and Flight Passes for Business).
With every eligible 10 flight credits you use in conjunction with a Flight Pass for Business.
Per month for the duration of the travel period when you purchase an eligible Unlimited Flight Pass.

Your credits can be applied to Economy Class bookings on eligible flights operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Express in order to upgrade to Executive Class or Executive First.

eUpgrade Credits are valid for travel until February 28, 2013.

Learn more about Air Canada eUpgrades

This Select Privilege:

Is valid for Flight Passes purchased and used in the member's name.
Applies as of the date the Top Tier status is confirmed by e-mail. Flight Pass purchases or travel made prior to that date are not eligible.
Is not valid for time-limited or promotional Flight Pass offers.
Regardless of what was posted on Twitter, I'd be very surprised if there were no retroactive credit for tier and flight pass bonuses once select priviliges are made.
