AC7 upgrades aplenty R=10!

Doing AC7 on Jan 17, called in over an hour "late" to upgrade and it showed R=10. Clearly people aren't paying those new T+ fares or they don't know T isn't parade able, or don't care.

Upgrade situation seems to be drastically improving although this is the time of year with the most SE abound.

maybe things are righting on the good ship AC after all... I was waiting to March to see if R became more predictable (ie available) like in the past, but am game for an early return to non gate upgrades.

Multiple things:
  • proliferation of T fares = far fewer people trying to UG
  • expensive Latitude fares with Z often cheaper
  • package 2014 upgrades given 2 months later this year (i.e.: some people may be out of e'ups)
  • quieter travel time right after the holidays/NYE (it is for us)
  • increased TPAC capacity and lower fares from competitors

I've never seen R=10, for any flight, anywhere. I thought the system was limited to displaying up to 9.

Also, was this for YYZ-HKG, or only the YVR-HKG segment?

Wish I saw some of that great R space on AC33 or AC35 (YVR-SYD) - waitlisted for next week

I think the reference to R=10 could mean that it was R=9, the OP eUpped, and then looked again and it was still R=9. That's how I interpreted it...

From 4JAN-25JAN you will never see R from Canada to SYD.
Several reasons.
1.Lots of Australians are returning home after summer break.
2. Australians love Skiing in Canada. Many own Time Share in Canadian Ski Destinations..
3. Australians are known to cough up for J fare or pay for LMU.
4. Than there is the Australian Opening which is Mid January.

Flew AC35 a couple days ago. Requested upgrade 14 days in advance and R opened up 4 days before the flight. Flight left with 6 empty J seats and was full (or almost full) in Y. So never say never.

You happen to fly the day they had 2 flights. Not everyday in JAN 2013 there are 2 flights.
This is the First Year AC has operated 2 flights YVR-SYD in JAN.

2- 6th JAN Heavy traffic Paxs having to return to Work after Christmas/New Year break.
12JAN-20JAN Schools open up following 2 weeks depending on the state & The Australian Open.

Tennis in Melbourne. It is on right Now. Finals next week.

BTW, AC is not only one with No J Upgrades Next week. United is the same. Even on Wednesday when a 4-5 days before typically R seats come available . No ON/O .
End of JAN easy to get upgrades.
When it comes to travel to Australia, I know when & what days to score upgrades both on United & AC having done NA-OZ for almost a decade every 6-8 weeks.

How often do you do it 3-4 times a year NA-OZ ?
Do it every 6-8 weeks like me & will know which days & weeks to avoid if you want to score upgrades.

Yeah travel YVR-SYD yearly in January and wait and wait for my upgrade to clear.

Mountainboy and two friends went early YYV-SYD (actually 2 of them yesterday) and took advantage of the T-14 upgrade window - they had R space at T-14 and I'm just whining that I don't

Oooh yes yyzprincess will PM you next time we are about to book YVR-SYD - we've done pretty good with Wednesday flights outbound but screw up with not paying attention to special events going on in SYD etc.

In JAN Typically Between JAN6-10 The traffic back to SYD/MEL is not as heavy say: 2-5JAN or 12-19JAN .

Is there T14 Window? Do they have a stutus above SE?
I thought SE had the most lead time T7
