Looking at booking a United flight using AC metal (as its cheaper)
They are in United S class and from what I understand it will translate to a different AC booking class, and, but I will need to ring Aeroplan in order to ensure it is a T+ fare. Is anyone aware of a translation matrix available on the net?
Also, as these flights are on AC metal, do they count towards the 10,000 AIR CANADA status miles needed in order to retain AC FF status next year, or are these status miles only accumulated on AC flight numbers?
Will I be able to ring in once I've booked and reserve free Bulkhead seats (I'm SE)
Lastly, as I can only request upgrade at the gate, has anyone had experience with upgrade success?
Yes, it's a United ticket but AC metal. Do you get AC status miles based on AC metal, or AC booking/flight number. In other words, do these status miles become United or AC status miles on Aeroplan?

They would be *A points accrued to your Aeroplan account, not counting towards the minimums.
Thanks for that I will read through this thread.
The problem with this http://www.aircanada.com/en/aeroplan/tc.html is that advises how status miles booked on AC but flying another airlines metal work, but not booked on another airline and flying AC metal.
In order to achieve Air Canada Altitude status in 2013 at any tier level, members will need to earn at least 10,000 Status Miles or 5 Status Flight Segments on eligible flights operated by Air Canada

Ya, read that...but have to say, I wouldn't place a bet on it....especially with "eligible flights" before it...
