Where to find Reason for delays?
Flight is delayed, but website gives nothing more than delayed. How can you find out the reason a flight is delayed?

90% of the time the only way you'll get the real reason for an AC delay is from a front line AC staffer who has moved beyond the "don't take responsibility for anything attitude of HQ".
Or...."weather".

I find flightaware.com helps sometimes.
I usually check it before I get to the departure gate as the monitors are usually not up-to-date.

Where does Flightaware state the reason for a delay? I've never seen this.

I use flightstats.com. There is an extended details section that I find useful.

Again, I know of no place a
reason for a delay is stated.

I believe the OP (and myself) would like to know how to access this sort of information for ourselves, for 'next time'.
Can you enlighten us?

This phrase should be summarily BANNED from the AC vocabulary. It is a result, not a reason.

I flew in from ORD on the earlier flight in the morning. Lots of thick snow, poor visibility when we went out. We took a small mechanical and were delayed by almost an hour.
I know this is not what you asked as to where to find info but Chicago was a mess yesterday

One of the flight tracking programs (flight view, flightstats) gives the flight # of the inbound flight, but I can't recall which one does that now.
