Stuck in YUL - what will insurance cover?

Today I was supposed to be in YUL for a few meetings. The flight YYC-YUL was on time and I'm in the cab to downtown now.

I was supposed to return to YYC through YYZ tonight @ 8:00 pm. That flight to YYZ was cancelled, so I have to get back tomorrow on the direct 8:05 am flight.

I booked the Hyatt already.

I was wondering what else insurance will cover, and how should I go about getting the expenses reimbursed.

The flights were on a flight pass booked with AMEX Plat.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Give them a call to file a claim....... They will read u the riot act of what is covered and uncovered...... Sometimes they dont want to tell u all the benefits and are rude to tell u....... thats when you need to show them DYKWIA on the phone.

I think its $500 reasonable expenses (at least for the gold card)...... hotel, clothing/toiletries, dinner, phone call, transportation, entertainment? etc....

Also keep a screen dump from AC.com to show that your flight tonight is cancelled!

Delay must be four hours or more.

I believe the gold pays up to $500, the plat, up to $1000. Of reasonable expenses. Hotel, dinner, transportation, emergency clothing.

You'll need to call RBC insurance to get a claim number. Then you just mail them the receipts, with explanation of the delay. You need to show that the ticket was purchased on your amex Plat: "copy of invoice/itinerary," and of your amex account statement. Also, alternate boarding passes or flight delay report from the airline.

Not sure how it would work with a pass, but I would expect that showing that the ticket was from a pass and the pass charged on your amex should do the job.

I have found AMEX Plat to be excellent for customer service. As GHT mentioned, call to open a file. They will email you a claim form with the reference to this incidence. You should also pull/find your agreement so you can inform yourself of what is covered. Each card (Plat, aeroplat, plat for business) is slightly different in the coverages.

Trying to travel in an Eastern Canada snowstorm ?

Anyhow, you get hotel, meals and sundry items... It's not baggage delay but since you likely didn't bring any PJs for a day trip, I guess you could likely buy some... $1000 limit.... You should have booked a nicer hotel

you can buy PJ's, some toiletries etc, up to the total limit (incl. hotel and cab fare). You MUST show them a note from AC why the flight was cancelled. It's idiotic, but they insist on proof directly from the carrier (print out of the booking file notes etc.)

I wish I had the time for all this. As it stands I'll be busy until 9:00 pm at least, and the Hyatt is most convenient and least likely to give me troubles with my age... I should have a girl to invite over!! LOL!

I'll definitely have dinner at the Hyatt and I'll charge it to the room, so we'll see if that's covered or not. Also will ask about upgrade. Maybe I'll get a more expensive room just because I can.

If I was in my office on Square Vitoria in the world trade building I would have popped over. Though I'm out in the WI right now and had a can or two
