Losing it in J

My mom flies J for the first time on Monday night from LAX to YUL.
About halfway through the FA's bring a Y pax up because she is not feeling well. The woman proceeds to puke up her guts for the rest of the flight. A most enjoyable J experience shared by all.

"The horror, the horror".

The gall of scoring a J seat just to be able to hurl in the front cabin instead of in the back where she belonged with the rest of unwashed masses.

I bet that she'll even ask for compensation.

The gall. Being sick on an airplane and spoiling it for the other pax.

We should ALL ask for compensation.

sorry to hear about that yul36...... i know how that feels.... i'm one of those that when someone starts to throw up, it will trigger me to do so....and i wont be a happy camper regardless of J or Y.........

things happen...... but nordsfan did raise one question of interest.... why send the pax to the front so early and not just before landing? Why not the back where there are washrooms too and more staff to oversee the situation. If the SD needed to "take care" of the pax, couldnt they swap duties with another employee to be up front?

once again, i am interested to know the rationale behind the decision not a debate as to whether a Y pax should be up in J because he/she is sick.

I don't think there was a good reason for moving the PAX up... Recently we had an old lady moved up from Y to J with her son because her foot was hurting and the FA thought she'd be more comfortable stretching it out. That made sense and it didn't bother anyone in J - hopefully it helped ease her pain. But I can't think of any benefits that would accrue by moving a vomiting passenger from Y to J, and the inconvenience to J passengers would be tremendous. Awful decision IMHO.

Yup, things happen including pax succumbing to sickness while in flight. I perhaps mis-read OPs post as a whine about the "negative" effect a sick pax had on his mom who was enjoying sitting in J and attempted clumsy sarcasm. It didn't work. My bad.

How is being sick in J better for the pax vs in Y?
I don''t get it?

Why not have her back with the FAs? (near lavs, quick accees to water etc?)

moving them up "just before landing" makes sense, as the paramedics will escort the sick pax off the plane before general disembarkation.

during the flight, i'm also interested to know.

Just think of how you vomit.

Sitting upright or bent over as far as you can to let gravity do its work? There's more room to bend forward in a J seat.

The same lav, water and FA are in the front, that point is moot. They needed the seat.

if i recall from throwing up, typically the internal stuff goes against the gravity despite many attempts to provide the right direction...... so either way its moot......
