Talking AC board year-end flying summary

In the spirit of the end of the year (and the world?!) coming, how much did you fly this year?

For me, it's 270,000 BIS miles. I have 200,000 AC status miles this year. 175 flights. Basically one flight every two days...

OK, likely to be on the low end....

92,000 BIS but only 68,000 AE, so not even going to make E75 for 2013.

(Any suggestions for 32,000 miles between now and Dec 31? I do have the 50% bonus offer.)

Several new airports: DAL, MCO, plus SIN and PVG on a mini RTW.

Goodness Jan, I hope you didn't credit all those miles to AE!

I credited miles to 3 programs this year.

AC - 152K miles
UA - 106K miles
DL - 45K miles

There were some COS bonuses in there so not all BIS. I am almost a MM with AC (40K miles short), so want to finish that up. It was very fortuitous that I credited as much as I did to UA (practically all my non-AC flights), since I won't be able to maintain SE with the introduction of Tango fares to Europe, Asia, etc. So my transition to UA will be a smooth one. It's really too bad as I am sure I will miss AC but it has become too expensive for me to stay with them since all my travel is paid for by me!

I'm actually excited about getting reward tickets to China for only $60 in taxes with MP. So when one door closes, another one opens.

all vacations, no work flights:

Total visited countries: 38 - up to 128 lifetime.
Airports: 45 in 34 countries, 20 new.
New Airlines: 9, 18 total, up to 79 lifetime (not incl. regionals)
Total Flights: 70
Total BIS Miles: 124,972 (52.2% in Y)
Top Airline: UA (29% of mileage)
Time in air: 292:30 hours - avg flight time 4.2 hours.

And to show how worthless Aeroplan miles have become, and that its no longer a frequent flyer program, without crediting any flights:

MILES ACCUMULATED WITH ALL PARTNERS BETWEEN Jan 01, 2012 TO Dec 22, 2012: 92,877 MILES

just squeaked over 100213--difference this year is a few more flights on US, include paid F, than I would have done in previous years.

A few miles on Aerolineas Argentinas (no choice!) and some reward flying on UA since it was too expensive to get to Rapid City--good use of miles.

Big miles were pleasure/vacation (5 intercontinental flights) but lots of domestic short haul as well.

Only logged 108,309 this year. Mostly with AC. Most likely to double this number in 2013.

Goals/Desires in 2013:

> Fly business class Dreamliner once (with which airlines)

> Fly a couple more times of the upper deck 747-400 long-hauls

> Explore a few more new countries/cities/airports (temporarily on the list that I have never visited: Tunisia/Tunis; Beirut/Lebanon; Doha; Warsaw; St. Petersburg, Russia)

> Explore new routing experience, such as to India: YYC-NRT-DEL; to Indonesia: YYC-NRT-CGK

Pretty amateur compared to some on here but 2012 was my biggest year ever - three more flights to go but I'll end up with 89166 BIS on 75 Segments.

AC - 68708, 61 Seg
TK - 7381, 4 Seg
WS - 5513, 5 Seg
SQ - 5367, 3 Seg
UA - 1746, 1 Seg
XQ - 451, 1 Seg

365,000 km / 226,000 miles

* About 40% AC and other *A, 30% QF and other 1W, 20% Virgin Australia and Gulf carriers, 10% Royal Air Moroc and others , including Air Burkina!

* Flights: 103

* Airports: 25

* Airlines: 15 (13 in business)

* Best business longhaul: SQ (QF in A380 2nd, AC in 777 3rd)
* Worst business longhaul: TAP
* Best premium lounge: QF Sydney F
* Worst premium lounge: Choose many of the USA carriers (except Admiral's at DFW)
* Best airport: Changi
* Worst airport: Ougadougu & Pakse a tie , but Lisbon of the 'mainstream'
* Most looking forward to in 2013: Using AC's Concierge as a Super Elite
* Least looking forward to in 2013: LHR T3

I was status matched to DL Gold, so not necessary. . Plus I don't plan on flying them any more than I have to. Thankfully most of those miles were earned on KE J or F. The only DL flight was LAX-CVG-YYZ and I got $200 compensation because so many things went wrong.

On December 31st: 118,025 status miles over 74 segments

AC - 38,645
BD - 28,422
LH - 1,770
LX - 43,157
UA - 33,725

I also flew some BA:

BA - 19,017 (625 tier points = BA Silver)

I started flying BA more since BD was sold. I find the tier point system flawed. I receive 90 tier points for a WT+ from LHR-DME which is the same I would earn for a WT+ flight from LHR-HKG. Moving up the tier ladder to Bronze, Silver and Gold is all based on tier points and miles are irrelevant.

I'm pretty pissed about just missing 120k but I didn't expect the 50% status bonus or a holiday trip to MIA. Not sure what I'll do about AC next year as I have shifted to BA for most of my travel.

I flew enough on various *A airlines for 75K on AC next year. Most of my flying was on AC, TK and UA.

Also enough on BA/AA combo to get me exec club bronze.
