What's up in YOW today?

All the western AM flights out of YOW this morning appear to be making a tech stop in Winnipeg (113 to YYC, 163 to YVR and 193 to YEG). I know there's snow in YOW today, but are the deicing holds really that long?

I'm on 168 to YOW tomorrow morning. Hope things clear up by then.

Update: According to EF, the tech stop is due to "wxx/runway condition and weight penalty". Can't say I've seen that too often, and the few times I have were due to heat conditions in LAS, never winter.

That's pretty crazy! Doesn't happen too often.

Mix weather issues + full flights + lots of cargo/baggage and aircraft on sectors near their limits and this is what you get.

Either tech stop or leave baggage behind . . . All those xmas gifts won't get home. Think of the children!!!

Things should be relatively clear by tmrw AM.

Definitely a white christmas in Ottawa this year.

On AC8510 YQR-YYZ on Tuesday they pulled 7 ppl off the flight before we could go. Even threatened a guy in the front row with security coming (not sure what happened before that precipitated this). They said that we were overweight given the amount of snow we'd had and it hadn't been very well cleared. First time I have seen this.

Westjet's Boeings were able to fly WS407, the 6:45am departure YOW - YYC non stop this morning without a problem. It arrived in YYC at 9:38am local, 18 minutes late. It went up as high as FL40.

Air Canada's 113, the 7am departure to YYC had to stop in Winnipeg for gas and directions. It is now grinding along over the prairies at FL32 and will eventually arrive in Calgary after 11 am.

It looks like the Embrarers and Airbuses have the problem on the transcon westbound today out of Ottawa! The Boeings keep going!

Funny, good thing I am returning to YOW from the south

I have been told that my car at Park n fly is in a block of frozen rain with 30cm of snow on it. Anyone going to YOW I will pay you $20 if you can clean the snow off my car as I get in at midnight!

And that is the main reason I only use Park n fly during spring, summer & fall.

You couldn't get me driving in this weather for anything less than $500. Next time, pony up the bucks for the garage or a taxi. For us it is a toss-up, taxi is $80 each way but the garage is friggin expensive.

I have been told it's bad there. I checked the traffic cams and there is a lot of snow. I get in at midnight or shortly there after. We drive down to SYR on Sunday to fly out west from there so I hope the city of Ottawa is working hard to clean all of that snow as I think of how much I pay in property taxes.

One day eh! If I was only one day earlier I could have been home, nice and warm in the house and coaching my son how to shovel snow from the warm comforts of my living room

Nooo! My car's been in there since the 13th, which means three freezing rain storms. Crap, maybe I shouldn't leave NRT today, and wait for it to clear up a little…

On a side note, it was also in the news that yesterday (Friday) was YOW's busiest day of the year, and they're expecting major delays. I would assume a re-fuel for some planes as a precaution, as they may be circling for awhile.

Just arrived in YOW from NRT through YYZ.

Flight YYZ-YOW was on time- arrived at 17:10-ish...

The drive home to the west end was better than most other Friday's at that time. Traffic was light, roads are wet and a bit slushy, but things are moving very well.

I did park in the covered garage!

Safe travels everyone.
