Got misleading e-mail today which really irks me.

Dear [Tedgrrrrr],
Here's an extra push that will help you get closer to the Air Canada Altitude Status you want for 2013:
Earn 50% extra Air Canada Status Miles [blah blah blah]..
Plus, we have an additional offer that will give you a boost:
Earn up to 1,500 Bonus Aeroplan Miles - Everytime you take-off or land at over 30 airports worldwide until December 31, 2012.
Since you've already been flying through these eligible destinations, register for these offers in order to reach that Air Canada Altitude Status you want.Click here to see the full list of eligible destinations.
Register now! Offers end December 31, 2012, so don't miss out on earning those extra miles!

So reading carefully (and looking at the terms and conditions) the 1,500 Bonus Aeroplan Miles (which is 500 for domestic) aren't status miles and the part that says "Plus, we have an additional offer that will give you a boost" is completely misleading... boost towards what?
Your outraged that Air Canada is giving you bonus miles, and even more bonus miles and apparently being SE, why would it matter after you pass 100K does it even matter if you get an extra 1,500 status miles. Stop ranting about Air Canada and give them some slake. Read the promo it`s explicably stated and just think for a minute before you post something.

The point is re-qualifying... and you completely misread the e-mail...
For example: "Since you've already been flying through these eligible destinations, register for these offers in order to reach that Air Canada Altitude Status you want." - THESE OFFERS IN ORDER TO REACH THAT AC ALTITUDE STATUS YOU WANT...
The problem now is I don't know how many MR's I need to do.

Welcome to FT (I think ... ) and what an entrance ... and just a FYI, you still need status miles for eUpgrade thresholds ... so it does make a difference ...

At first glance I agree it does imply status miles, but when this first came out I saw that it was only regular miles. I have received my 1,500 bonus “non Status” miles but it would have been nice is they were status miles.
With these offers, I have to wear my “solicitors” hat and read the T & C as some marketers play too many “spin” games.

How does getting 500/1500 bonus miles help you reach the Altitude status you want?
Well... If you arrive/depart through the airports offering the 500/1500 bonus miles, you have to sit on a plane right? Sitting on a plane leads to status miles (unless you're on a T fare).
I would say, however, that it's somewhat of a stretch. The 500/1500 bonus miles indirectly gives you a boost because if you get the 500/1500 bonus, chances are good that you are also earning status miles for flying.

It appears to be inexplicably stated, in fact. That's the OP's point. I'm not sure what slake, or slack for that matter, the marketing department of a major corporation needs. There's no excuse for unclear language in an email like the one posted. Either they're happy to leave ambiguity, thus misleading some readers, or they're rather incompetent. The latter shouldn't be surprising to anyone who reads any of AC's marketing on a regular basis. That doesn't make it excusable.
I think most of us got those emails back in late October / early November, but the good news is that they're retroactive for the eligibility period.
I agree that the phrasing might be a little impercise, but as was pointed out AC is usually quite clear to include "Status Miles" in their taglines, when those are included. In fact, just about all the promos I've seen are for non-status miles, so I generally assume I won't be getting status miles, unless I see those specific words.

There must be different versions of these invitation flying around. Mine said they have already registered me for the bonuses. The details about my flight pattern were not included.
