Aeroplan/Lufthansa ripoff?
Need some suggestions on complaining and to whom. Flew Lufthansa from YYZ to BOM and back. Since I did not see any Aeroplan points added to my account sent a requst to Aeroplan. Recd a standard form letter advising that T Tourist class and 'free' flights do not accrue Aeroplan points. Nowhere does it state that this class of fare (T) does not accrue Aeroplan. I even checked Aeroplans website where they list a bunch of fares that do not qualify but T is not among them. Since I paid $1400 for each ticket and there were 5 of us, it is by no means 'free' or even close. What annoys me even further is that I picked Lufthansa for points as there were other options (KLM, Swiss, etc) that were comparably priced and would have given me a stopover in Amsterdam, Paris or Zurich. I am AC E and this would have been a bonus. Will also be AA status this year so may choose to fly Oneworld i/o Star Alliance next time.

I believe the law of ommission might apply here.
If it's not listed, you won't qualify. I did a quick search on FT and T class seems to have the same effect on Aeroplan Mileage Accumulation: Zero Added miles.
I agree with you that the Aeroplan mileage redemption charts are very confusing in that it they do not explicitly indicate which fares do NOT earn any mileage. Instead they are silent, i.e. if you don't see a particular fare code as part of the mileage earning group, then you are supposed to deduce that it doesn't earn anything.
And since "T" doesn't appear anywhere on the Lufthansa page one would have to assume prior to travel that it won't earn any mileage:
Plenty of issues with LH and other code shares etc.
Yes I do agree this is garbage by AC and when you book you should be flagged as to how many miles you will earn. Many other * operators do this AC does not.
It is also difficult for many on here even myself something to know straight away if the flights earn credit. Why Because AC is cryptic in its efforts to show this data.
Though you can try to complain to AC/AP it will not do you any good im afraid.
I also find it funny that when you purchase such tickets on AC website if states and option to save $15 with no miles. If your not going to get miles then I would have assumed this should auto select as an offer.
So how many people leave this option ticket believing they wil get the miles?
In other words your paying $15 dollars for miles you will never receive anyway.

I had a similar experience a couple months ago on a return LHR-FRA-JED itinerary on LH. Had that earned status miles on AC, I would have made the 75k threshold for 2013. Funnily enough, due to delays on the return JED-FRA leg, I was rebooked to LGW from FRA and magically on a fare bucket that does earn status miles on AC. So I got 500 miles out of the itinerary, which was hugely disappointing.

welcome,
you have discovered that low LH fares (TLK) do not earn any points on Aeroplan the hard way. If the fare is not listed under eligible, than its not.
You should see if you can get these credited to a real Star Alliance frequent flyer program, like United Mileage Plus or another one that gives credit for LH T fares.

If you had your Aeroplan number in for that LH T fare flight so that it showed your AC / *A status on your boarding pass, would you still be able to submit it for credit to United (or elsewhere)?
After all, you've already claimed that flight in another program, even if it did not accrue any miles there.

Yes, AP non-credits can be claimed again on United or M&M.

Yes, I believe Mileage Plus gives 100% for T fares. I think they may actually give 100% for everything but K.
Still is frustrating for the OP to not get the miles where he wants them.

At least after crediting to MP he will have 16078 miles he can redeem without fuel surcharges, with one ways at 1/2 round trip Another 1K miles and he can fly one-way to Mexico, Central America or the Caribbean for about $2.50

And he'll be 65% of the way to UA*S!
It's actually a great foot in the door to MP. OP seize your opportunity to ditch Aeroplan!

I'm afraid you are SOL. You may as well pound sand for the good it will do complaining about this, at least that's been my experience. If you complain to AP, they will blame AC. If you complain to AC, they will blame AP.

Exactly, its still beyond me why anyone who is not captive, and doesnt rely on domestic upgrades, and is not bankrolled by a corporate T+ policy, would be crediting flights to Aeroplan at this point.
Yeah I avoid LH like a plague unless I'm in Z fare in biz class. Try LX instead, or SQ. Recently did JFK-FRA-SIN then SIN-BOM just to get 100% status and get more miles this way.
