There is a warning on the email I received today stating that they must be credited by Dec 31st. I suspect that, as long as you have your FF# on the flights around that time you are fine - you have requested that they be credited. But if you try to go back, they may not accrue for status?

If they must be credited by 12/31, doesn't that mean that the qualification period is essentially 1/1 to 12/29 (assuming that it takes 48-72 hrs for miles to post)?
So then would these miles go for 2013 qualification, 2014 qualification, or just no qualification?

Got the same email. It said "To reach [the next] status, you'll need a total of [number] Status Miles or [number] Status Flight Segments by December 31, 2012. Just make sure all of your 2012 status flight activities have been credited to your Aeroplan® Account by that date."
The same is reiterated on http://www.aircanada.com/en/aeroplan/toptier_2013.html
"December 31: End of qualifying period for 2013 Altitude status.
December 31: Make sure all your 2012 status flights have been credited to your Aeroplan Account."
Now, it wasn't clear to me what the consequences of checking, on December 31, and discovering through not fault of one's own, that a flight had not credited. But they are emphasizing it.

In fact, the message we've used – that you should try to have all of your flight activities credited by December 31 – is one that's been used regularly over the past few years when we've launched these e-mails to notify you about your status for the upcoming benefit year.
But just to be clear, flight activities that post after December 31, 2012, for travel on or before December 31, 2012, will absolutely count towards your balance of Status Miles or Status Segments for Altitude status in 2013. We just want to ensure everyone is diligent in the interest of ensuring that all of their flight activities are credited on December 31, or shortly thereafter.
(And while we're aware of the loophole you're speaking about, payam81, trust me – we would not close it at the risk of impacting our broader base of Altitude members.)

I'm sure some eUp hoarders would be relieved to read this.

There's nothing worse than a loophole others know about that you don't
