Getting to Elite 35K status

I've currently got 34,092 status miles and I'm obviously just short of the 35K needed to qualify for Elite 35K status in 2013. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good flight from YYZ to ??? to push myself over the top or other recommendations?

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

As most will say here, if you want to reduce the money that you will be spending, do the run from BUF. I recently purchased a BUF-LAS rt for $250 ai to get me 5 segments to get me to SE. It should also net me ~5849 AEROPLAN Status Miles + 2924 AEROPLAN non-Status miles bonus.

But if you do not want to do your run from BUF and/or do not want to spend too much time on it, a quick YYZ-{SomewhereVeryClose}-YYZ will net you 1K status miles that you need -- assuming you are currently a top tier member to get the min 500 status miles

The easiest thing to do would be hop to YUL/YOW. Check flights from YTZ and they may be cheaper to YUL than from YYZ.

First up, welcome to FT!

Forget YYZ and forget YTZ. If you want a cheap MR, drive down to BUF. The value for the dollar spent just can't be beat.

You can troll United or US Airways for deals on their websites, or scroll through this forum for excellent MR deals.

While we are talking YYZ-{SomewhereVeryClose}-YYZ options for the OP, there are a few days to YOW/YUL that is only ~$220 (with TAX) each way. You can do it in the evening if you can not take a day off from work/school in the morning.

US, check ITA, but I think it was for Dec.17 or 18

Problem with US/UA to Aeroplan - actual miles, not 500 mins.

Sorry, not following your comment here, it is still 500 min for status member and 250 for non-status member, did I miss-understood your post?

No, I just have no idea what Aeroplan credits since I'd never credit to AE.

So this is even easier to get 1000 miles then, a simple RT on US from BUF - cost - at most $200.

Right.

It's now Star Alliance silver and other than a few more eUpgrade credits, the only other tangible benefit is access to lounges. However, the plane ticket to put you over will buy you a ton of beer.

Depending on where OP flies, having Priority Boarding may also be important for OH space.
