Are you noticing full flights lately?
I am asking if everyone else is noticing completely full flights. On several flights they have asked for volunteers including YYZ-YOW! In the past months YYZ-MCO/YOW-YYZ/YUL-LAX/YYC-YWG and the list goes on full J cabins and full Y cabins. Is our economy finally turning around or is it less capacity & smaller planes?

Bit of both I think. Also I can really only speak to one route that I fly *way* too often (YYC-YYZ). But there has been a lot of tinkering with schedules in terms of frequency of flights and equipment used. For the last 6 months it has changed every few weeks or so. Somebody is doing a lot of experimenting to try and find the optimal mix of equipment and schedule. As a frequent flyer, this isnt always a good thing (I would much rather have hourly service on a 319/320 than every 2 hour service on a 321, for example). But I bet it is a really good thing for profitability. Load factors are definitely way up on this route.

YYC-YQR, YEG-YYC, YQR-YYC last wek were all full (not in that order, but whatever). It seems like everyone is moving to get more "Attitude". That is the name of the new program, right?
UA and DL flights from YQR are routinely booked solid - hoping they bring more flights or bigger planes...
So much for a recession...flew YOW-YYC-YEG-YZF-YEG-YOW this week and also YOW-YYZ-YEG-YYZ-YOW and YOW-YYZ-IND-YYZ-YOW in the past two weeks and the only plane with even a single empty seat was YYZ-IND both ways (lots empty on that route).
The only thing harder to get on short notice than seats was hotels...almost every hotel in both Edmonton and Toronto sold out last few times I've tried on short notice.

Since May/June at most there has been 4 seats total open on any flight I have been on ( Jet ), 3- or 4 over sold, As far as turboprop only 1/2 to 3/4 empty flight was YVR/YYJ shuttle back in June
i believe less profitable routes have been cut back as well........ my YYZ-SEA tomorrow is only in service during the weekend now.....so people like me get shifted
Trips last two weeks: YEG-YYC-YLW-YVR-YXS-YVR-YEG-YWG-YYC-YEG
Those were like feast or famine flights, YEG-YYC both ways were very sparce <40%, to/from YWG were like 80%, everything else were 100% or close to it. Flights to/from YXS, being squeezed like sardines in with a plane full of lumberjack types, FUN... not. Showers before boarding should be mandatory for certain locations.
I can totally see cut-backs to the hourly between YYC-YEG. Having said that, do seasons affect travels? On routes like YYC-YEG, many people drive in the summer, do loads increase during the winter months?
Hotel shortage in Edmonton last couple of weeks, I was told it was the Canadian Rodeo Finals, many cowboys/cowgirls from all over in town.
Most of the year it's been full flights every trip. LAX to YVR, YYZ, YUL. I flew LAX-YYZ-YUL. My schedule changed and so I was going to LAX to get the earliest flight out, but there were sold out all day. My booked flight was the last one out and it was full and I was in the Executive cabin - of course this was for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Interestingly enough, when I flew YYZ-YUL, I was booked on a later flight but I asked the gate agent if I could catch an earlier flight and he looked it up and said there were at least 50empty seats, so he gave me a flight change gratis. Also on this flight the Executive cabin was empty. Now this was Sunday A.M. from YYZ, but it was curious.

I doubt AC will cut back YEG-YYC. They go at least hourly, with ever 30 minutes during peak times.
Interesting, LHR-YOW was below half full on Nov 19th. I was shocked because just like you guys, I've been used to full flights for the last few months. A colleague told me that YOW-LHR was very light on a weekday the week before as well.
Came over from LHR-YVR-YYF last week. Transatlantic I would say less than 60% full in economy. Biz had been wide open 24 hours out but ended up pretty full with e upgrades like myself. Short hop to YYF had 19/50 on board so not much profit in that one.
