Thanks for the heads up! Like you, I am disappointed AMEX is not included, but CIBC is. I guess I should sign up for the CIBC promo quick!

Yeah, I just noticed this! And they were VERY specific about pointing out that MR are NOT included.

I wonder if this is because there is a separate promotion on the way? Or does this mean perhaps transferring from MR is being phased out?

Something is happening. This year CIBC has 2 rounds of promotions to waive fees for their Aventura and Aerogold cards. They never had the fee waiver before. This year they had it in the summer. They are having it again now, till Dec.

Meanwhile Amex reward is not included in this bonus transfer.

Something must be happening between Aeropeso's arrangement with Amex and CIBC.

Hmmm...interesting. Anyone know when the last 'bonus' transfer from MR to Aeroplan was? And historically, they've usually offered one at the end of Nov, correct?

I failed university calculus, is anyone good at the maths? Would speculatively converting 40k SPG into 60k Aeroplan be worth it?

Cheers

RE: AMEX

If you do look at their latest ad, they do start stating:

Transfer your points instantly 1:1 to Aeroplan® and Avios

RE: Recent SPG 8K promo

As others stated on the thread about this SPG 8K promo, it is setup as a transfer from SPG to AEROPLAN, i wonder if it will count toward this transfer promo?

Not if you can use LAN to redeem flights. 40,000 spg = 100,000 lanpass (1:2 transfer ratio, plus 5,000 SPG bonus per 20,000 transfer). Then you can use those points for OneWorld redemption. I am planning to transfer half that and use to fly on AS! I hear the transfers can take a while, though...

While Amex has been excluded from hotel only bonuses, I don't recall it ever being excluded when other credit card programmes were included. Very disappointed, saw a big end of year exchange as a recapitalization opportunity to AP.

Only hope is one airline will be included in points drop on Cyber Monday, or that Amex match the 50% Avios bonus now being offered by both RBC and Diner's Club!

Yeah, if would really suck if Amex was excluded from BOTH big year end bonsues! It will make you wonder if they've pulled the plug on the transfer bonsues altogether! Maybe they're trying to encourage direct MR redemption...?
