YUL-SIN MR to reach SE?

Am I crazy to consider a MR YUL-SIN? I can get there & back in 2 days (turnaround) for $1246 ai. in early Dec. on UA (YUL-ORTD-SIN rt). Will give me over 20,000 miles and would make SE for sure....

You can do better if you're willing to overnight in some places.
YUL SFO HNL NRT SIN on AC/UA/UA/NH.

If you can route HKG via GUM and HNL - you can get 21000 miles - and it is probably cheaper - plus arrival/departure times are not insane.

Beware of SIN and the DIRECT flights ORD-HKG-SIN - which will only earn ORD-SIN mileage (about 2000 less iirc)

The UA website says I'll get 20136 mi for the YUL-ORD-SIN-ORD-YUL direct route. That's really all the mileage I need to make SE and the times are not crazy. I can use the excellent *G lounge(s) in SIN for some food and a good shower before heading back...

Just because that's all you need doesn't mean you can't do better.

No you cant Star Golds use the crappy SATS lounge

There is however a nice airside transit hotel.

I m surprised that there is not a 3 day min on this fare, like most UA SIN K fares.

If ORD-HKG is still a 747 - this is a very painful flight in E- without IFE, followed by an equally painful 737 flight HKG-SIN.

I'll second the remark about the HKG-SIN leg. First time I was on a UA 737 on this leg, I wondered what's a UA 737 doing over here, but the aircraft and crew are based in Guam.

That lounge appears to have finally been closed!

It does have food and showers - but nowhere near the level of SQ lounges in SIN - which are not star gold.

But above, its mentioned its closed, which would be great!

How about YUL-JFK-FRA-SIN RT?

Hey, rather than enduring the pain of riding UA, how about YUL-JFK-SIN via FRA on SQ25? Just flown that on a A380 and I think RT will get you enough miles for SE. Book directly on SQ and often they have good fares that most qualify for 100% AP status miles. And SQ has great service on E with bulkhead seat on upperdeck you get decent sleep with your legs not cramped up.

It may be good value, but how do you figure it's an MR? By my calculations, the best you can do is 5.6 cpm, otherwise its more like 5.6.

I just did a MR, YOW-YVR-LAS-YUL-YYZ-YOW, all on AC metal, for 4.8 cpm and 5/6 segments were upgraded to J. There are better MR's state side if you have the flexibility?

because he'd have to do that four times?

How do you get 4.8cpm - LAS has been fully Tangoized - the cheapest T+ fares are over $100 more than Tango - and comes nowhere close to 5cpm
