I'm about 11,963 miles short of making 50,000 this year. I'm going to London for a wedding in December and that will net me another 10,638 (7092 + 3546 bonus) but that will still leave me short by 1,325 miles. I'm thinking of flying YYZ-IAD-YOW-YYZ in one day for about $272 in Tango Plus. Am I right in thinking that each of these flights would give me a minimum of 500 points for a total of 1500 miles? As a rule, what determines if a flight qualifies for the 500 minimum as opposed to actual miles flown? Any other suggestions to make up that 1,325 miles would be much appreciated.
You ever think of just doing a YYZ-YEG or YYZ-YYC run? May cost you a little more, but, you could always fly in for some lunch/dinner and have a more relaxing travel day than hopping around all over the place..

Have you booked your flight already? Just want to make sure you are on the new Tango+ fare to get the 100% Status Miles and not the Tango fare that get only 50% Status Miles.
Check YTZ to EWR. EWR is usually cheap. I'm seeing fares of $69 each way for Dec, and you will be routed through YUL, so will get 2000 miles for $240. You can do an immediate turn, land at 15:04 and leave at 15:35 (sample date Dec 17).
slashd0t, what were you thinking? There are no cheap T+ fares between YYZ and YEG/YYC. Last year, I had to route through MCO to get to a wedding in YEG with a semi-decent price.

Whoa.. Where did I ever say it was cheap? I said if he had a little more money to spend

The minimum number of Aeroplan Miles accumulated based on distance flown on Air Canada flights:
- For distance flown up to 249 miles, Aeroplan members earn 250 Aeroplan Miles.
- For distance flown of 250 miles and more, Aeroplan members earn miles according to the actual miles flown
Then the "% of Status Miles" is calculate based on this 250 value.

Well it's not a little. Last year, I bought 2 tickets.
YYZ-YUL-MCO
MCO-YYZ-YEG-YEG-YYZ-(MCO)
and I think the whole thing cost me $550 for 6100 status miles instead of $750 for 3300 miles. It was summer of 2011 when they had the summer e-upgrade program and I used 15 credits to upgrade the whole thing.

Huh? Yes, it's an L fare, but it's still classified as Tango Plus when going to the US so will earn 100% miles.
The new reclassification is:
Quote:
Effective October 16, 2012, booking classes T, L and K will no longer be sold under the Tango Plus fare option for travel to Europe, Israel, Asia, Australia and South America.
