UK > YHZ > YYC HELP

how do I go about getting the best price for this routing ?

GLA(thru LHR) to YHZ stay say 4/5 days onward to YYC for 3/4 days then return to YHZ for 10 days prior to return to GLA(thru LHR)...

Look forward to your ideas...

Thanks

Neil

Approximate dates? Cabin? Need upgradeable tickets? Your Aeroplan status?

I have no ideas for a cheap ticket, but I'm sure these are the things the experts will want to know.

I think the best way to do it is to get 2 seperate tickets since AC will charge you full fare for making 2 seperate stopovers on your way here and back.

There will most likely be another seat sale early next year. However, I don't think AC's seat sales are good for originating from outside of North America.

Your best option would be to get the lowest fare between GLA & YHZ (It's showing $909 CAD now) and then get a seperate YHZ-YYC when they have a seat sale next year. Don't get a GLA-YYC with the 2 stopovers that you wanted, it'll cost you a fortune.

Not sure if this works out cheaper but here it goes...

and by the way this may not work due to the need to get to LHR (presumably on BD if possible) in order to take a flight to YHZ but...

FRA or DUS to YYC $895 CAD return (HLAP2MCA)plus 50 DEM per stopover in Canada to a maximum of 2.

Then of course you need to get to Germany, I suspect this is possible for approx $200 CAD (perhaps less if you can use Easyjet or equivalent). The H fare is upgradable if you are able and will certainly have lots of inventory. It may also allow changes but I'm not sure on that. You may also check other cities in Europe for fares, a similar fare from AMS was $1307 and would certainly route via LHR. Also ex. VIE is $909 with one free stopover. Just some thoughts.

if you're not picky on accumulating mileage on a particular alliance/carrier, you could try Canada3000.

A quick scan of Expedia shows

GLA-YHZ $707 return, KLSEC
YHZ-YYC $538 return, NKOWNR
(all prices $CDN)

better than Air Canada's

GLA-YHZ $909 return, HLXAPGB3
YHZ-YYC $599 return, LLECONO1
(all prices $CDN)

just be prepared to pack some blood thinners (the cabin seat pitch is a wee bit tight!)

After spending a bit of time playing with schedules etc and speaking with 3 different AC agents I have the following options...

Travelling gla>lhr>yhz (10/4/02)
Travelling yhz>yyc (15/4/02)
Travelling yyc>yhz (18/4/02)
Travelling yhz>lhr (27/4/02)
Travelling lhr>gla (28/4/02)

As a "Through Fare" I was quoted approx £728

Or alernatively using "Airpasses" minimum purchase 3 segments (would only need 2)total cost approx £752... (or £270 = C$600 for the airpass)

for £24 = C$55 I could use an extra segment...

What are AC airpasses and what are the restrictions ? (apart from only being available to individuals flying into Canada on AC...?) I believe you can increase purchase segment by segment and can only presume a prorata increase in price... (seems? good value)?
