USA3000 ??

Saw that some new company called USA3000 is getting some planes to start ops:

Confirmed it will now lease 7 Airbus A320-200s from GECAS.
Operations are schedules to start in Nov01.

Any affiliation guesses?? Peculiar name!

Dorian

they are affiliated, I remember reading this a few days ago, don't quite remember where though (to much reading with exams and all). The company that is starting USA 3000 owns part of Canada 3000, I the number the pops to mind was 17%, I'll try and find where I read this.

The owners of Apple Vacations, Inc have formed USA 3000, a Newtown Square, Pennsylvania based air carrier. Their fleet of new Airbus A320-200s is expected for delivery to USA 3000 this fall.

I remember seeing a UK3000 a couple of years ago at CDG in Paris. Wonder if they are affiliated to C3000??

Flyaway do you mean Air 2000, I don't know if they're affiliated, but they're colour scheme used to be nearly exactly the same, I remember noticing this when I flew into YVR from LHR for the first time.

The things you learn talking with your neighbours... A guy on my street works for AC in the aircraft maintenance field. He tells me that AC is looking for business from an American firm called USA 3000. They are looking for a maintenance contract. AC already does work in YWG for Air Jamaica, America West and JetBlue. AC seems to be strenghtening its YWG operation of 320-319s

kiwi: you could be right. It may have been Air 2000. I remember the colour scheme being very close to C3K's

I believe Air 2000 (UK) was originally related to the Air 2000 (Canada) - Canada 3000's predecessor. They were required to change their name to avoid confusion with the UK airline and alas, we have the name Canada 3000. But the two airlines are now no longer related.

Flyer Al is correct. There was a very early relationship between the [then] new Canadian charter carrier and the established UK one. I believe it was the feds in Ottawa that made them change the original name, which was to be Canada2000, so there would be no confusion and no formal link between the two. The exact history is fuzzy in my mind, but I recall there was some kind of a link between the two airlines.
