Nut-free zone ordered on Air Canada

Air Canada has been ordered to create a special “buffer zone” on flights for people who are allergic to nuts.

The Canadian Transportation Agency has ruled that passengers who have nut allergies should be considered disabled and accommodated by the airline. The CTA has ordered Air Canada to come up with an appropriate section of seats where passengers with nut allergies would be seated.

I wish that nut free zone had been in force yesterday on my flight.

Five loud mouth "nuts" were polluting the air with powerful decibels.

From the article:
The CTA ruling only applies to Air Canada but an agency spokesperson said other airlines typically follow suit.
Why the heck would the ruling not apply to WS and the charters? I have sympathy for allergic people and routinely travel with a friend with a severe peanut allergy, but there are no adverse issues if I eat them in the next seat. I wonder if people who suffer via miniscule airborne traces in an environment as well ventilated as an airplane cabin should perhaps not fly.

They can keep their hands off my nuts.

I guess next on the hit list will be cologne/frangrance allergies and asking travellers not to wear any BO, which I think would be an idea that stinks, literally.

Disability

I find it disabling when I am wedged in the centre seat between 2 big oafs whose love-handles exude over the arm rests. I want to be seated in an oaf-free zone!

At first when I read it on the Globe and Mail site I thought it must have been an early April Fool's joke....but ....

(And yes, there's a lot of room for jokes with a headline like that!)

If they are going to have all kinds of zones, I suggest they follow the lead of JR Rail in Japan who have some "silent cars" on their Shinkansen routes. No announcements at all, no cell phones, no talking in a loud voice. Talk about bliss!

The solution to all airline woes is: sterile jumpsuit for all passengers, ear and eye muffs, suppositories, chained to the seats (Gitmo style).

I'm developing adult-onset severe claustrophobia, and as such, require even more space aboard an airplane than Ken HAAmer.
