Nairobi Airport Transit Hotel/Dorm ??

In September I will transit NBO from 5 am to 10 pm.
I did find another thread here in FT that confirmed
I can get a transit Visa on the spot,

that was a NICE surprise compared to Nairobi Embassy Info.

I found a few old references, via ThornTree posts,
to some tiny rooms inside immigration
that can be had for $50/4 hours.

But unlike the great asian airport
transit hotels, details are scarce.
It would be nice to book it in advance,
or at least confirm it still exists.
Couldn't find any phone number on the NBO airport site.

If anybody has used this facility,
I would like to hear about your experience.

Contact info for the facility would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

hi man,

sorry to learn u will "enjoy" a 17h stopover at JKIA probably one of the worst hub of east africa
for sure you will find a dormitory, with shower which is located at the ground floor at the Unit 3 ( domestic and regional flight) for the facilities don't expect to much, but it is basic to relax for a such long period. you can find the mail if you want to ask for information, i doubt they reply quickly but 50$ seems a steal.

Anyway, it worth more to store ur luggage at the airport, get a 20$ transit visa and go to visit the town. u will discover more about the vibrant town of Nairobi.
for all my flight africa-europe, I used to arrived around 4h30 pm and catch the connection to AMS around 11h and have always time to have a quick walking tour

enjoy your week-end

sad news for you this 17h layover in JKIA, actually u can find a dormitory the ground level at the unit 3 (domestic and regional flight), but don't expect too much, maybe a shower...50$ seems a steal for this quality

OK, at least I know the dorm is there and operating.
Thanks !

I knew Nairobi a bit in 1983,
could be fun to walk around.

I wonder if the original "Thorn Tree" is still there?
(I came in "overland" across Sudan from CAI !)
