Crediting Air New Zealand flights

I've just checked and it seems our upcoming flight from CHC - SYD on Air New Zealand is booked into L class.
L class accrues no miles on Aegean, Turkish or Lufthansa!

I think Avianca Amigo will get 50% but doubt I'll be able to use the miles as it will be so little. Not sure what to do... I hate 'wasting' miles.
Partner has Amigo account for *A Gold status match so perhaps I should just open one in the meantime too (still got A3 Gold until Nov 2016).

Maybe I'll find a use for the few hundred miles

You can purchase refundable fare for 70% earning, they might upgrade you to business class for having *G.

Problem is I have already booked the tickets and didn't realise at the time about earning 0 miles

Air NZ is good for intercontinental flights, but otherwise a frustrating experience for *G. No free checked luggage even for *G, no mileage earning in run-of-the-mill booking classes.

This is why I flew Jetstar within New Zealand. Jetstar also offered an attractive "Plus Bundle" that waived any change fees (!) and also included free checked baggage, free seat reservation (I really enjoyed the view) and some funds to spend onbaord for food&drinks. It is a no-brainer. Avoid NZ unless you fly intercontinental.

I was upgraded when I flew TPE(OZ)-ICN(OZ)-SYD(OZ)-AKL(NZ). My OZ segments from from an AP award and my NZ segment was cash. I got the upgrade in TPE and merged the reservation together.

These are often 50% more than the cost of an entry level fare, SYD-CHC is only A320 so no upgrades there they are all Y.

NZ barely ever upgrades, unless they 100% have too.
