Aegean to offer in-flight internet access
Article in Greek; http://www.protothema.gr/technology/...sta-aeroplana/
Aegean will be (among) the first operators to use the new Ground-To-Air system by Immarsat. More info on that can be found here: http://www.inmarsat.com/european-aviation-network/

So besides the great wines, the Nemea area will give us another valuable addition in wifi through the Inmarsat-OTE cooperation. Great news and actually interesting to read the Inmarsat guys think highly about the technical qualities of a Greek company!

The other day I answered a phone survey regarding my experience on an Aegean trip I took recently. The lady specifically asked if I would liked to have had internet access on board (duh :P), and for how long (again, duh :P).
They also asked how much I was willing to pay for the service. In retrospect, I should have said I wanted it for free, but I was caught a bit off guard and answered 5 euros (I'm used to LH charging for this kind of thing...). So you can (partially) blame me if the service isn't free :P
Let's hope it actually works well...

I think making it free will compromise performance, as the bandwidth may be quite limited. But yeah, the 0.99/1.99 seems fair to me. I would also like to see this as an add-on extra when you buy the flight (i.e. have the option to pre-pay).

This service does not have to be free! Free means : bad service, always (even if partners, like on US airlines).
I'm willing to pay 40 or 50USD for a long haul high speed wifi for sure!

Well, A3's longest route is probably MAN or LED, which are max 4hrs, would you still pay 40 USD for that?
