Imminent changes to status validity?

I received my A3*G card in the mail today (I obtained the status early November 2013), and it mentions 12/2014 as the expiry date. This is different from earlier posts, where a 3-year validity seemed the norm. Maybe A3 is indeed about to tighten the rules, so enjoy it while it lasts...

I called the hotline and asked (someone might want to repeat to see if we receive the same answer): they will send out status cards more frequently, otherwise nothing has changed.

We can believe this or not, but that's what I was told.

well, that sounds weird That would just cost them more money. And they would need to send it like 3 months in advance so we receive it before the expiry date lol.

According to some other threads, it was a trick to always in January report ones card as lost and request a new one. Doing so, the validity of status has automatically been extended by one year (at least on the card).

I am sure somebody must have tried that before this thread was reported. Do those replacement cards also say 2014?

I guess the real question is what do you have to do to requalify? If it is still just one flight in the period it should not be a problem for most people.

Any further updates? Is there an online portal which has an expiration date?

AwardWallet shows the expiration date, although I am not sure whether thats reliable or not...I qualified for Gold a couple of days ago, and AwardWaller shows expiration in January 2017, which is exactly three years from now. will see what my card says, when it arrives...
