I have my strategy ready to maintain Gold in case I don't manage to fly 24k miles (will certainly reach 12k): a long weekend in Greece, using miles to fly ARN-ATH (60k miles + 100 USD) with SAS, and the required 4 domestic flights visiting some of the nice Greece islands. Haven't checked domestic prices, but I think they're pretty cheap.
Nice break from the long Swedish winter

I did CCS-FRA in Y (upgraded to C)
FRA-GVE in Y
OSL-FRA in J
FRA-CCS in F
It was less than 15 days trip. This racked 27K miles, i was going to have my vacations anyways so the *G was a nice touch. I think it was one of the fastest way i could possibly think of. Not that now it matters much., but having paid less than $1200 and in Venezuela money made the sweet spot. I will remember this schedule as pure awesoness and my A3 path with the 300% bonus.

There is another data point on pages 35-37 of the following thread, for whatever it's worth...proceed at own risk.

Hey guys I'm still trying to make this work out before Nov. I found a routing EWR-MCO MCO-IAH IAH-SEA SEA-EWR all in First (A class) for what I think would be 22698 miles. With the 300% accrual and the 1500 mile minimum earn in first. Would this work? I credited another flight I took last month into the program so my current balance is ~4300 I just got my email confirming me to Blue status this morning. Am I missing anything?

Be careful that you are not rounding up to 1500 miles, then tripling instead of tripling, then checking the minimum. According to this calculator, the itinerary above is more like ~18,200 miles.
Thanks.

Just an update. My original route was LGA-ORD-SEA-ORD-LGA. But due to the fire and the weather if was able to get rerouted free of charge. EWR-SFO-SEA-IAH-EWR. The points posted to my account today and I am at tiered miles of a bit over 20k. But still white member. I assume it will be a few days before my membership status changes. There are some inconsistencies with the mileage which is benefiting me so I'm not complaining.

Try FCO-OSL-FCO on SK in "SAS Plus", should give you 5083 A3 miles. Just don't spend any more time than you need to in Norway (just do a turnaround MR). That would kill your budget ...
SK4714 FCO-OSL 23. oct. 13:40-16:50 (SAS Plus, fare class A)
SK4713 OSL-FCO 24. oct. 08:10-11:20 (SAS Plus, fare class A)
Price: Approx. EUR324 (NOK2660), booked on sas.no
Also check the A3 miles calculator on this link, to find alternative miles-friendly routes from your home town: A3 miles calculator
