UA blocks M+B for int'l flights

Just called A3 for an award flight from PEK-YVR, to my surprise A3 does not see availability from UA, even though it shows up on Aeroplan, the agent can only view 2 of the highlighted economy class and 1 of the business class:

I might mix up with my old school kris flyer or something else.

Well hope one day we can book *A online and save that €20

You won't get back the 20 Euro fee you paid to make the original booking - that leaves 23 Euro carrier imposed taxes/fees. Then they charge you another 20 Euro for the cancellation, leaving just 3 Euro. So yes, it's correct.

Y+C

I booked a flight from HND-SIN with NH, only one C left so I booked for my wife, and I booked in Y, and the second leg SIN-DPS only 2 C left, so we both booked in C, and for my booking Y+C, they charged me C milage, in this case in the future, if the first leg have C available do u think they can changed me to C and paid €20. And I ring NH they still have one I left but not on M&B.

Yes you can change for a fee, but I doubt NH/SQ will release more seats to M+B, however, you might get lucky if someone cancels their ticket.

This thread is more a discussion platform for award tickets than a reporting of award booking experience.

I suggest to rename this thread... A masterthread for "*A bookings with Miles&Bonus", or so...

Anyone knows if Aegean counts different airport transit as one redemption or 2? Ex, TPE-ICN GMP-PEK.

For me it was possible with an airport change from HND to NRT.

Here the answer:

From: NWIFlyer - Flyertalk Aegean M&B Mod
Re: Reported Post from FlyerTalk Forums

For what it's worth, I agree with you about the direction of thread, and it's been heading that way for a long while - before I ever became a mod, I suspect!

I've thought for a while that it should be turned into a knowledge thread, or at least some of it split off as one, but that needs an awful lot of work in writing a wiki or a new post 1 in a new thread. Once that's done, I think a re-name will become appropriate, but I'm not sure that's going to happen in the near future.

Short question: Has anyone tried to get an award in Premium Economy (for example Lufthansa), or knows if this is possible/impossible? If it is possible, how are they charged, as the Miles&Bonus award table only shows economy/business/first?

Unfortunately, it is not possible. You can only redeem Y, J or F. For PY, it is usually only available for the operating flight's own FFP, in your case for LH it would be the M&M program.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply, Jma12! Well, I thought so...

But, I shouldn't complain, Miles&Bonus is not at all a bad program for award flights, far better than the other two "easy-to-reach-Gold" programs I've been in, AB topbonus (no First awards possible at all, business upgrades hard to come by) and AF/KL Flying Blue (extreme amount of miles needed for F awards in a program where miles are much more costly than in A3 M&B).

And esp. Far East<->Far East seems to be a really sweet spot

Each FFP have their own strengths and weaknesses. FB's main strength is easy status and cheap Y redemption (especially with the promo), ABTB have some sweetspot as well, I use to have Gold status with them, but partner redemption was a hassle.

As for A3 M+B there are many "starblocking" involve, as well as the 1 stop transfer requirement, and YQ charges. You need to be very flexible with your travel dates. In the positive side, there are many sweetspots in the chart for cheap redemption between regions.

I'm looking to book a r/t TATL J award, and I see availability for TK, OS, and LH to get to where I want to go. I've looked up the YQ for all of them on ITA Matrix and they are all over the place. ~$430 for TK, ~$850 for OS and LH. Is that what I'd have to pay per r/t ticket in addition to the 90k miles?

Also, any tips for booking? With other airlines I can book routes that aren't "published", and can just book segment by segment. I know that I can only book 2 segments each way (1 stop), but are there any restrictions on which routes I can book?

Yes, that is in addition to the 90k miles plus 20 Euro booking fee. LH and OS are famous to have high YQ, The only way to avoid YQ is to fly with AC and UA, or depart from Brazil for TATL flights.

You are allow to stay at the transit city for up to 24hrs, however you will have to tell that to the agent during booking.
