Pullman Marrakech Palmeraie Resort and Spa

This is the perfect spot for families seeking to visit Marrakesh with little kids.   Be picky about your room.  There are definitely some duds.  The resort grows on you.  Our overall assesment started very low and ended very high.  We visited in December and it was cold.  We were happy to have our puffy coats.  That said it warmed up during the days to where some of the guests were sunbathing by the pool.  Brrrr.

The resort has a nice zen like calm, clean, yet artistic appearance.   There are a lot of fun sculptures that will delight kids and their adults.   It is not a strictly kids abience at all.  IMG_6525.jpgIMG_6684.jpg

Room

The room was nice after seeing two rooms that were really awful.  Be careful at this resort.  Not all rooms are equal.  Check the heat/cooling carefully before accepting.   Once we had two nice rooms we were fine.  The rooms were well cleaned daily.  Fresh bottled water both still and sparkling were provided for free.  We were on the first floor.  One day we had tiny ants.  The housekeeper took care of it instantly.  They never returned.  These things happen in the desert.   The bed was comfortable.  The linens changed daily.  A nice turn down with a Ferrero Roche chocolate placed on the bed nightly :D

Dining

Breakfast was delicious.  I never tired of the choices.  Lots of fresh juices and fruit.  The hot fresh Moroccan pancakes are nice.  The eggs are made to your own preference right in front of you.

At dinner the cost for buffet was 25 euro.  It included beverages on one night and not on another.  We are still unclear about that.  The different nights have different themes.  We enjoyed the convenience.  Many days we had a big mid day meal and didn't bother with dinner.  The all inclusive is really nice and plentiful enough.

One note this hotel seems to use filtered purified water for the entire hotel.  Not one of our party had any concerns with food or water.  One of our party accidently drank from the tap.   She stayed well.  I do not recomend this.IMG_6533.jpg

Check In

This was the only horrible experience at the hotel.  We arrived at about 3:30 to 4 pm, well within normal check-in time.  The staff at the front desk made us wait excessively to speak with them.  They were busy with paper work and gave the initial impression of dismisal.   Were were a family group of 5 adults and one child.  We had booked two adjoining suites.  There was no welcome of any sort.  We were told to "sit over there" on a couch bench.  We waited at least 15 minutes before the front desk clerk to hand us key cards and send us off to our rooms.

We were given two rooms that smelled of sewage, had not working heat and no television.  We refused.  Were told to wait.  10 minutes later two more rooms with similar issues were presented.  Meanwhile the hotel was practically deserted.  There were no guests anywhere.

We were told there were some rooms that we might see in a "higher catagory".  We were not in the basic category to begin so this was surprising.  The new room had comfortable heat,  working TV and basically in much better shape.  We accepted the room but the surly front desk clerk told us it would be 30 euro more for each of these rooms.   Then we asked for the manager.  We told him we would consider staying tonight but would be leaving for the remainder of the week.  Then everything changed.  We were welcome to stay in the comfortable rooms minus the 30 euro/day/room surcharge.   It was a really exhausting welcome after a long flight to Morocco.

Service

The restaurant staff were outstanding.  Welcoming doesn't begin to describe the hospitality.  The food was of excellent quality with unlimited freshly squezed orange juice.  Wow.

The hotel's general manager did make himself known to us after our initial kerflufle.  The staff other than the front desk group seem to be excellent.  Many spoke good English as well as French and Arabic.   We were delighted with all the service except the front desk.

Overall

This is a family resort for sure.  There is an outstanding kids club and baby club.  There are playgrounds, trampolines,  pedal boats, non-motorized go-carts, a petting zoo and more for the youngsters.  The place is utterly safe and walled in.  There are kind and friendly staff in the kids area.  Our almost 2 year old grandaugher loved the place.  That is why we picked this resort.  It is perfect with kids and large family groups.  Many multi-generational families were enjoying the place from all over the world.  We picked this hotel for our little girl.  It was a big sucess in that regard

Location

Palmarie is a suburb of Marakesh.  There is a 4-5 times a day free shuttle from the hotel to a spot 2-3 blocks from the central square Jemaa El-Fna.  It is very convenient.  There is a tour agency at the hotel if you want to book a tour or day trip.  There is a small boutique at the hotel.  There is a coffee and alcohol bar.

Thanks for the nice review ijkh ^ It is unfortunate that in Morocco service can be a bit hit and miss.
