Accor takes over Mirvac hotels (48 properties)
Accor PR:
Accor, a leader in Asia-Pacific, strengthens its position in Australia and New Zealand with the acquisition of Mirvac, a hotel management company Following this transaction comprising of 6,100 rooms (48 hotels) Accor’s portfolio in those countries will reach 241 hotels, covering the spectrum of hotel segments...... The 48 hotels are located mainly in Australia, in key cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Four of the hotels are located in New Zealand. The majority of the portfolio will be integrated into Accor’s upscale and midscale brands: Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel and Mercure. |
Great news.
http://www.mirvachotels.com/choose-a-hotel I don't know any of these, but the locations and property descriptions seem very promising. Will maybe put an end to the practice of hotels in Australia calling themselves "Sofitel" but not fully participating in A|Club. |
Includes Sebel Resorts, Sebel Suites, Citigate hotels, Quay West suites and the old Sydney Marriott in Hyde Park

I wonder if all those Mirvac properties are being removed from the GHA stable?

The Mirvac Melbourne properties i have seen are very nice additions to the Accor group IMHO.
|
It will be interesting to see which Accor brands these properties are re-branded to.
Heading to Auckland later this year so it would be nice to get some mileage out of my A-Club Platinum now that Hyatt have left NZ. |
Whoa. That is a huge addition to accor in ocenia.
So does that mean Mirvac will no longer be listed on the stock exchange? Accor is buying the whole thing? |

Quay West Suites
Wow, I stayed at this Sydney hotel once. It was serious luxury with a great view of the harbor. I had a huge dining room, kitchen, etc. Basically a 2 bedroom luxury apartment as I recall.
|
Very nice indeed for Accor and for us :D
Now let's see if they will keep them or if they will do just like with Club Med.... revamp the thing and sell it back with an added value... |
Great news, will be interesting to see what they are rebranded to
Quay West Grand in Circular Quay has the best views in Sydney |

It is because these two properties are franchised locations who we understand were able to opt out of the program. The only way these issues are going to get fixed is if members keep complaining and raising the issue. Everyone here who goes to visit these locations and chooses not to stay because they can't find a top tier Accor property that accepts A|Club needs to email customer service and tell them that. Then email that concierge or manager at the property and tell them the same. The more people who let them know they are voting with their wallets because of this, the more likely they are to get the message and realise the stupidity of turning away good money just because they want to save a few bucks on a loyalty program. |

That is a very sore point for Aussie A|Club members visiting Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
Especially if some of the new properties are branded as Sofitel... :p |
