Year end review: Did you make your eleite levels?

With less than 45 days to go in 1999, hopefully you have already made your elite level (re)qualificatios or have made plans to!

Here is a survey to see how your fellow FlyerTalkers will be doing for year 2000.

For me:
American Airlines
'99 - Platinum (via Platinum challenge)
'00 - Gold (by miles)

United Airlines
'99 - Premier Executive (via miles)
'00 - Premier Executive (may have to take a short 2k flight before year end to reach 50k)

1999 actual flight miles: ~77k miles
Percent business: 9%
Percent leisure: 91 %

2000 goal: Focus on one airline or airline alliance!

This was my first full year of frequent flying, so I had no status coming into 1999.

United Airlines
2000 Premier - June
2000 Premier Executive - Nov (the flight back from PiP)

Miles by the end of 1999: 53K (all UA)

15% Business
85% Pleasure

Last year I had 14K business miles from Oct thru year end, but this year it was only 8K all year. So, it's hard to guess what the mix will be next year (but unlikely to be enough for PremEx 1K.)

1999 - Air Canada Super Elite (by miles)
2000 - Air Canada Super Elite (by miles)--will pass the magical 100K required early in December and should end up at least 10K over requirement (despite not flying for about 3 months through the summer).

This was also my first full year of frequent flying, so I had no status coming into 1999 except with Marriott (see below).

USAirways, all by segment
2000 Preferred - April
2000 Preferred Plus - July
2000 Chairman's Preferred - September

Marriott (goes by any 12 mo period)
Gold - October 1998 (first stay was 20 days)
Black - April
Platinum - August

Hilton
Gold - November (comped due to USAirways)

Status miles by end of 1999: ~90k
Percent business: 80%
Percent pleasure: 20%

2000 Goal: Ensure Preferred Plus and pray for enough fare sales to thrust me into Chairman's Preferred without so many business trips.

99- Air Canada Aeroplan Elite
00- Air Canada Aeroplan Elite

99- Marriott Rewards Black
00- Marriott Rewards Black

It is quite likely that I will make it to AC Super Elite and Marriott Rewards platinum for 2001.

1999 Status (earned in 1998) - Delta Air Lines Gold Medallion
2000 Status - Delta Air Lines Gold Medallion - will earn during November (later this week actually)

Estimated 1999 Base Miles at year-end on DL/AF/SR (includes 500 miles minimum):
54220

Other flights - I may well have missed some out:
Saigon --> Bangkok one-way (Thai)
Singapore --> Saigon one-way (SQ)
Roanoke --> IAD --> JFK --> LHR --> EWR --> IAD --> Roanoke (UA free ticket)

Business / Leisure break-down:
0% business!!
100% leisure!!

Next year, I plan to requalify for Delta Gold Medallion and take the AA Platinum Challenge.

Since we're all bragging:

United
'99 - Premier Exec (barely 50k miles)
'00 - Premier (barely 25k miles)

Southwest
'99 - Companion Pass Level (100 flight creds)
'00 - Companion Pass Level (185 flight creds)

Hyatt
'99 - Diamond (75 nights)
'00 - Diamond (130 nights)

Marriott
'00 - Gold (barely 15)

business: >90%

Goals in 2000:
1. convince American to look at my 120 flights this year and gimme elite
2. sell United miles to a broker, since United won't let me ever use them
3. send nasty letter to United with photo of me sitting barebottomed on the copier glass

My stats:

Delta
98 - Gold
99 - Gold (53K)
00 - Gold

United
98 - Premier Exec
99 - Premier Exec (comp from DL status)
00 - Premier (will need to do a 2K run to attain)

Starwood
98 - Westin Burgundy
99 - Starwood Gold (grandfathered in)
00 - Gold

Hyatt
98 - Platinum
99 - Platinum
00 - Platinum

Hilton
98 - Blue
99 - Gold
00 - Gold

Total miles for the year = 92K (all airlines) is the least I've flown in past 12 years.
Total nights = don't want to count them, a lot!

My bragging rights:

United 1999 PE
2000 PE

qualified on either miles (50K+) or segments (60+). I'm at least 15 segments short of 1K.

Hilton - Gold (should hit 30 nights but comped anyway)
Starwood - Gold (10 stays but comped anyway)
Holiday Inn - Gold (20+ nights)
Marriott - Gold (15+ nights)

No, I'm not eltie in ANYTHING! (sobs) I was hoping, though, that an extremely generous HP Platinum Elite member would be so kind nominate me to Silver status....

Perhaps it will be a gift from "Santa"...to my credit, I flew 18 segments with CO/HP/NW, and would shift all of my mileage-earning opportunities to HP if made a Silver Elite member. Santa,I can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks, Santa Claus...and yes, I've been a good boy...

United
'99 - 1K (by 136,000 miles)
'00 - 1K (requalified with 100K in May! Will probably make 200K by years end as I've changed all my remaining Delta flights to United in protest of Delta selling elite status via AMEX Black Card)

Delta
'99 - Gold Medallion (by 54,000 miles)
'00 - Silver?...was close to requalifing for Gold but have dumped Delta (see above).

American - Elite something. Comped. Only flew them 3 times this year. Can't understand why they like me so much. Must have sniffed out that I was a 1K with United and trying to get my business, or something.

Hilton - Gold
Starwood - Gold
Marriott - Black (and would have been Diamond or whatever the next level is if they gave me credit for all the Courtyards and Residence Inns I've stayed in! Grrrr.
Hyatt - Platinum (I think!)

'99 Nothing
'00 Nothing (4 segments - 5K miles)

AA

DL

99-Silver
00-Not a chance as I haven't flow a single mile on Delta because their flights are not convenient and its difficult to upgrade the cheap fares, but I will try for a comp silver or gold anyway because of my AA and Southwest status

AA

99-Gold-June
Platnum-Nov (I would have made platinum, much much earlier if I hadn't been using Southwest for the first half of the year)
00-Platinum all the way baby!

50k+ miles
60+ segments

100% business

Soutwest
00-companion level (100+ flight credits and counting)

100% business

Marriot
99-gold (15+)
00-gold (15+)
100% business

Elite in NOTHING! Two trips this year for a total of 8000 miles on OnePass! Amazing huh? Well I think thats quite a lot for a fifteen year old kid that can't even drive to an airport let alone fly all over the world. Fortunately 2000 will be be more fruitful.

Not being one to miss out on this flaunt-fest:

United
99-PremEx (on 74k miles, about 40 segments)
00-1K (on 150k miles, 104 segments)

Starwood
00-Gold (comp, but I should have earned it if I'd been more on the ball with hotel stays earlier in the year)

Priority Club
00-Gold (24 nights I think)

Marriott
Nothing, but if those Residence Inn MONTHS counted for anything...
