Best domestic first class?

Which airline has the best domestic first class service? I usually fly United but on a trip next week I have a choice of Northwest or Continental. All flights are on narrowbody planes, 737's or MD-80's. Nowrthwest is a bit cheaper. Any preference?

You may save a few bucks going Northwest but
my gutt tells me if you have a chance to
go Business First with CO take them. Have
not flown CO First myself but from what I
hear it's very good (and sometimes surpasses
the quality of other BIG airlines.)

Those with CO first experience may be able to
offer you insight, but NW's record with anything has been spotty at best. (except that it's trying to get back business.) CATMAN

Having flown trans-continental domestic first on Northwest and United, I have to say that the service and comfort on United far exceeds that of Northwest.

To date, the most comfortable seating has been the 767-300 on United and DC-109 on Northwest.

Of course, all domestic first class pales in comparison to KLM business class!

Two cups of coffee makes my fingers jumpy....that should be a DC-10 not a DC-109.

CO has all new 1st class seats on all MD-80's
and their new 737-500's & 700's are nice.

I'd like to see more answers here. I'm pretty much stuck with Delta, but I can switch.

Thanks for the replies. Continental is $200 more, but it's only 2 segments rather than 3. I'm getting the impression that it might be worth the extra bucks though!

I'll be a bit of a revolutionary, but I really liked TWA's new first class. Recently took it STL/TPA and TPA/JFK. I guess I like the new fresh seats instead of United's saggy slippery old leather ones

The older seats in UA's first class, particularly the DC-10s, leave much to be desired. They hardly recline at all. But the new seats are awesome, even in domestic business (Connoisseur Class), having lumbar massage, footrests, and amazingly deep recliners.

Looks like I'm going to be taking Continental Monday morning... I'll let you know how it was.

United needs new first class seats in the worst way. I hope they're better than the new business class seats on their 777s. I think they stink! What was wrong with the old ones anyway?

CO BusinessFirst is not available on the planes that you have listed. First class on Continental on smaller planes dont differ a whole lot from many other airlines that fly smaller planes (MD-80, 737, 727, etc...). BusinessFirst on those DC-10s are awesome and well worth it though. I wish CO still flew DC-10s to SFO from IAH but they just stopped flying DC-10s on that route.

This is off topic, but can you get miles on another airline with Singapore?
