My mistake. I have indeed seen that long a baggage counter line once. Almost every time I see a line that long at LAX it's for security, but sometimes it's for the counter. The counter lines at OAK can also be horrible on holiday travel days.
I've seen a lot of horrific check in lines at LAX. My record is 45 minutes to check a bag inside. My experience is Sunday and Monday mornings are the worst. That TSA line moves fairly fast, actually, despite its daunting size. That being said, I've suffered through long lines on UA and DL as well, even when I was flying in first.
You get the ma and pa kettles on every airline, though. They aren't limited to WN anymore.
