One time the lines for "no declare" were huge and slow, and there was nobody in the "declare" line. I noted this, checked the "food" box because I had candy, and went through that line. Customs agent asked what I had, I said candy, and he replied - "go on, get out of here". Probably saved 10-15 minutes.
Not something I'd do every day, but for that occasion, it worked well.
