south dakota, mt rushmore, 4th of july etc
am thinking about a driving trip to south dakota including mount rushmore and especially to be at the monument on the 4th of july.
do they put on a very nice fireworks display for the 4th?
was also planning to visit other sites while there, such as the crazyhorse monument, the badlands, and any other interesting targets of opportunity
wall drug?
corn palace?
various cowboy/indian/old west type locations or activities?
lakes or other swimmable areas - natural springs?
basic idea is family fun type stuff for boys under 10 years of age and their adult companions
nice to see that there are hilton properties in rapid city, mitchell and sioux falls. may want to find nice but affordable accomodations in mitchell or sioux falls so we can conserve hilton points for rapid city - where the hampton inn is a hilton category 2 for points but over $160 a night when staying with dollars.
