SkyTeam Marks Five-Year Anniversary
The SkyTeam Alliance celebrates its fifth anniversary June 22. In 2000, the CEOs of Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta and Korean Air met in New York to announce the formation of SkyTeam.
On June 23 that year, SkyTeam launched its first global branding campaign across Europe, the U.S., Latin America and Asia. The campaign featured the tagline, "Caring More About You," and introduced travelers to an alliance dedicated to providing a consistent level of performance, quality and detailed attention to customer service.
On June 22 a year earlier, Air France and Delta signed an exclusive long-term strategic agreement that laid the foundations for SkyTeam.
In 2000, SkyTeam offered 6,402 daily flights to 451 destinations in 98 countries. Today its nine member airlines offer 14,320 daily flights to 658 destinations in 137 countries.
