CP Amsterdam City Center

CP Amsterdam City Center

What is your Priority Club status?
SPIRE (Royal Ambassador)

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Room = yes, Dining=NO

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked = Entry Level (including breakfast)
Received = Club Room (without Club Lounge Access)

How are the rooms?
Rooms all vary in size+shape, as this CP hotel is several buildings joined together. No club room floor(s) per se, in any case Lounge is on groundfloor along with reception, restaurant, bar.

Given one of the corner rooms so nice and quiet, although about smallest clubroom todate (always received a clubroom w/o lounge access here).

Large comfortable double bed, small square pillows which I hate, very small side tables to bed and usual small individual directional reading lights on headboard.
Usual small atmchair, footstool, workdesk + 5wheel castor desk chair. Wall mounte TV, but poor UK channels, BBC1-NI (no ITV)
Small bathroom type, bath+shower combined, no separate shower cubicle (some clubrooms have), "rituals tolietries"
Wardrobe includes; Iron+board, 1x Dressing Robe, safe
Minibar (ice bucket in room, with ice dispensers on each floor)

How is the exec. lounge?
o I don't buy Club Lounge here, as my rate always has breakfast included
o Had Lounge access 2days as part of a service recovery gesure, generous by hotel as made a complaint about something that impacted me, but that I did not think deserved compensation ^ . I just looked to avoid repeat of my issue on a multi-night stay
o unmanned lounge, but dedicated lounge person visits regualary to check + topup offerings
o Nicely furnished, armchairs, tables, 2 TV's, and offers
a)breakfast
b)teatime nibbles
c)evening nibbles, some minimal hot (slices if sausage rolls etc) + cheese etc
d)evening period alcohol additionally included 3 bottles of spirits (d
e)Sweets out, jars of hard boiled ++ 3 platters of different fudge
and of note as unusual
f)Alcohol (beer in keg) , red+ white wine available from after breakfast till close, ie 1200 - 2300.
o Minimal breakfast in Lounge BUT
a)You can order (foc) items into lounge from restaurant
b)Lounge access allows breakfast restaurant foc if you prefer

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
o Nice quiet room
o 14:00 late checkout without question here
o Later checkouts, can be 15:00 or 16:00 maybe granted but need ask 9am on day of checkout.
o I was offered 4pm checkout, may of helped that reception knew I was lunching for 4x people 1200-1400 in the hotel.

NEUTRAL
o Sometimes clubroom upgrade is similar to booked basic room size as in this instance, someimes you get a bigger/better room. This visit not so lucky, guess hotel very full as Kings Day Public Holiday stay.

BAD = Restaurant at lunchtime
o Restaurant at lunchtime , total disaster for 4 of us (3xadult, 1x 5yr old boy)
a)new, too small a choice lunch menu, although choices if you like were fine
b)had booked table, as can be 100% full, but my lunch was almost empty
c)Waited 60minutes for our starters, Cold Meat/Fish Salads !
(There were 3 waitresses, 7 tables of 2-3 guests so no reason for this)
d)Then waited 45minutes for main course, (adults only, 5year old eat already with our starter).
Should be easy, 3x Catch of day (Pan fried salmon) BUT waitress despite taken each of our orders in person, only asked chef to cook 2x Salmon Mains !
Then told 30mins to cook what should be 10mins the missing salmon, so asked for avocado for missing main. 15-20 minutes later had not materialised
e)Supervisor later appeared and offered a free drink or desert, which obviously we had no time for.
f)Service Recovery, chatting with manager for Spire checkout when asked about my stay experience, clamly replied about poor lunch, was immediately offered 50% and other more senior manager who overheard offered it free. I insisted that paying 50% was a fair recovery offer that I was happy to pay.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?[/QUOTE]
o ROOM = Yes (repeat guest). Paid always not points based on $7/1k redeem ratio value
o Lounge = Yes (if breakfast not included in my room rate)
o Lunch Time Dining = BIG NO, ++ My guests now refuse to return
Which is realy inconvenient as we always have meal together (lunch or dinner) on day I depart Amsterdam (usually for my Schiphol flights).
So much easier for me when they eat at the hotel I am checking out of ! As such I may need move to another hotel for my last night in Amsterdam in future... a real pain.
