Tonight I tried to use Google Wallet at Walgreens and the terminal asked me for a PIN (with bypass for Credit). It's never done that before. Botched Walgreens and/or Google software update? It approved the transaction when I chose Credit on the screen in any case.
EDIT:
apparently the wallet PIN works if asked. It also only needs a data connection 1x/day, which I assume could be Wi-Fi since it doesn't mention any restrictions there. Good to know.
